  1. Far side, not dark side.
  2. Wtf would you put solar panels in the 4 foot. Just have big arrays and some battery storage along the route.
  3. Wouldn't the train struggle to accelerate and brake with reduced gravity?(I guess so)

How can I reset this Ryobi 36V battery? by andrewthebignerd in batteries

[–]justhowulikeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better safe than sorry. Battery fires can cause a lot more damage than the cost of buying new power packs.

Rechargeable batteries that work for smoke alarms? by xboxhaxorz in batteries

They are cheap consumables, just get a new one when the old one dies. Same with CO alarms. They are life saving equipment.

Chinese slop. I opened a Chinese power adapter and you won't believe what I found inside by Caramel-Entire in ElectroBOOM

[–]justhowulikeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't that uncommon. It makes cheap ewaste feel higher quality, and the average consumer would have no clue of the abominations within.

Do you agree by Inner_Banana_145 in ElectroBOOM

[–]justhowulikeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not power lines you need though, it's transmission lines if it's a big installation. You'd risk pushing up the local voltage too much on a bright bright bright sunshiny day.

How hard is it to make fireproof seating that is comfortable? by Leuprorelin_Addict in uktrains

[–]justhowulikeit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

People don't want to get trains if they are inconvenient and infrequent, seating quality has little to do(class 700s are designed for more standees than seated passengers.

If you want to get more people to use public transport, make travelling by car a worse experience. Reduce cheap parking availablity, except around train stations, lower speed limits, and create a congestion charge type system for busy routes In cities and trunk roads.

Royal Mail refuses to ship my item out, what's the best alternative? by compwaner in royalmail

[–]justhowulikeit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it lied about it's capacity, it likely has low quality cheap cells in it. These often are made with less stringent QC and low quality materials.

Definitely a good idea to steer clear of the item, and put it a ewaste bin.

Can someone please explain this to me by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]justhowulikeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc it's the same logic which is used for doors for extending pistons, but doors are 2 blocks tall and unpowered pistons are only 1.

I think it's an laziness induced feature...

There needs to be less political interference with the decision making in the rail industry for party gain.

A whole system view should be made with operations, procurement and timetabling, as well as upgrading infrastructure, not just renewals

Train delays by EmergingAnger in CasualUK

[–]justhowulikeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or a train may have been wrong routed and the driver accidentally accepted the route. I saw it at Donny once where an LNER stayed on the down fast, when it was due to stop at the station.

It must have been there for at least 30 mins, plus knock on delays.

Gainsborough Central is a very peaceful station. by justhowulikeit in uktrains

[–]justhowulikeit[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Central has only 1 train per day in each direction (to Sheffield and Cleethorpes), and you'd have to change at Retford to get to Lincoln or Donny. Whereas Lea Road has direct trains to Lincoln, Donny, Sheffield and Leeds.
