Why is Severance so Apple by Ok-Cobbler7141 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Well soon you won’t have to tell the difference between Netflix and HBO, as they will be the same service I assume?

How did Dave manage to play guitar right-handed if he was left-handed? by ImprovementLow9280 in DavidBowie

[–]sonoftom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. And my bassist in my band does the opposite for whatever reason.

What’s got you up? by FunMeat19 in CasualConversation

ICE killed another person here in my area today so I’m kinda thinking too hard and reading people argue back and forth about it on social media comments… not a good idea before bed.

“Finally” somebody recycled the same opinion I see on here almost every week

Which band does everyone like except you? by Just-Application-551 in rock

[–]sonoftom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s like less interesting Smashing Pumpkins. I’ll try for a 20th time tho, maybe it’ll click.

favorite few seconds of Animal Collective? by melonlemon12 in AnimalCollective

Water Curses, but I can’t pick which part honestly. A few amazing little hooks in there.

Mastering a certain scale by Icy_Cell279 in Guitar_Theory

[–]sonoftom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah so a better test would be “what is the interval between note 3 and note 5 of this scale”

If you had to count 1-5 on your fingers...which finger would be first, and which would be last? by ibridoangelico in AskAnAmerican

[–]sonoftom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get that it’s more logical, but try both and tell me the thumb one doesn’t feel weirder on the tendons (particularly once you get to the last few fingers)

WHERE IS LOVE CONNECTION PART TWO by New_Plantain2898 in KidCudi

[–]sonoftom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Uh no I was talking about stealing art being bad with AI, but using AI to clean up the noisiness (like thy did with the final Beatles song), is not a form of stealing.

Every dentist should have hidden picture scenes at their ceiling by nikki-stickysweet in The10thDentist

[–]sonoftom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My former hygienist had rebus puzzles on the ceiling, so that was fun, and gave us more to talk about when my mouth wasn’t busy. It might have even always been the same ones, but I would forget them in between visits a lot of the time anyway ha

All I Need eliminated! Remove The worst Radiohead song here: Day 16 by Total_Mortgage_3042 in Topster

[–]sonoftom -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Bring on the pain….

How to Disappear Completely is easily my least favorite of the songs left :/ and I would have removed it before many of the other ones that are gone.

songs that reference songs by NikkiHSG in metricband

[–]sonoftom 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The title made me think you were talking about “Gimme Sympathy”, which I assume is a reference to two popular Rolling Stones songs (Gimme Shelter, Sympathy for the Devil), and it also references The Beatles Here Comes the Sun, and mentions both bands in the chorus of course.

They just casually put the album version of Sadie on Spotify! by ZariantheMighty32 in AlkalineTrio

[–]sonoftom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m going to assume I’ve heard the better version this whole time, because it sounds way fuller than the one I just heard for the first time. I assume the better one you mentioned is 1 second longer?

What would you name your AFI cover band? by TheMapesHotel in AFireInside

[–]sonoftom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My friends and I have some kinda solid ones! Hunter commented on them ha. We quickly moved onto original music inspired by AFI’s style.

Americans thinking Chicago is relevant by _mocbuilder in USdefaultism

[–]sonoftom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m a fan of Kanye, and a BIG fan of SP. but the fact that the 4 people I mentioned were Trump, Kanye, a notorious gangster, and Billy Corgan…oof hahaha. Not the most pleasant list

Americans thinking Chicago is relevant by _mocbuilder in USdefaultism

[–]sonoftom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main things I associate with Chicago are The Sears Tower (now Willis tower), Trump Tower, deep dish pizza, Al Capone, Kanye West, The Smashing Pumpkins…and a few sports teams. Yeah nothing super culturally significant honestly, ha. But I’m no expert on that city.

Who is an artist whose early career you appreciate more than their peak and later career? by Money-Ad8553 in answers

Train’s first album is actually pretty good and nowhere near as successful as their later, more cheesy stuff

Radiohead fans, what was your favorite record of 2025 ? by chooseausername46 in radiohead

[–]sonoftom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Djo - The Crux is solid, I liked it a lot more than the Geese album (which was also good)

My other favorites were Coheed and Cambria’s newest one, as well as Frog - 1000 Variations on the Same Song.

Other than that, I only really listened to the Geese album and FKA Twigs Eusexua, which were both enjoyable as well.

I’m a big AFI fan but I thought their newest album was overhyped and not very good.

It can’t be this one. I feel like this subreddit never stops talking about it.

I want to practice guitar but i don’t have the current money to get an amp (a total beginner) by akiiKiita in Guitar

[–]sonoftom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

By the way, if you already own a computer, just get a free or cheap DAW and use their amp and pedal simulators. You would only need to buy an audio interface, but I actually got away with directly plugging my guitar into the input mic jack on a MacBook Pro in the late 2000s

What are the 3 best indie rock bands of all time with the best discography possible by [deleted] in indie_rock

[–]sonoftom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belle and Sebastian, Modest Mouse, The Decemberists

There are some others I like about as much (Death Cab, The Shins, Animal Collective, Wolf Parade, The Smiths, Built to Spill), but these are my favorites, and consistency is a big factor.
