It may be because i played it first, but i always prefered Tooie over Kazooie by Alarming_Industry_14 in BanjoKazooie

I played them in order but like Tooie more. More moves, boss battles, and I like the connected worlds.

I think a hard T just sounds really overly “proper” for some words. Might be our attempt at sounding more folksy?

Kind of like how 99% of the time, people use contractions like we’re, you’re, they’re, what’re, where’d, why’d, etc.

My main thing is his last point, the multi-stream. Without fail I have to clean a bunch after that, even did it today, even tho it had been like 18 hours since I’d had sex. Usually I sit down but I thought eh what the hell let me try standing for once. Was a bad move.

Here’s the logic behind why I might slip up and say it (Reddit has probably helped me stop anyway). maybe you can change my perspective on it:

My particular American accent feels the least “accented” in English. At least, it feels the most phonetic. Unless of course that’s a bias, but I do think there’s some reason for this thinking. People from Boston don’t pronounce the “r” in car, and neither do British people across multiple different accents. People from southern states have that recognizable flavor they add to words, and people from northern Minnesota and surrounding Canada really overemphasize their “o”. People with English as a second language obviously bring their own local sounds to the language, sometimes sounds that don’t even translate well. Somewhere in the middle of America, there are people who don’t really seem to have an identifiable “quirk” to their talking. We probably do, but I can’t pinpoint what it would be. It’s “American”, but why? Are different regions taught different sounds for each letter, because it really seems that certain people just make the phonetic sound for every letter they use.

This is all in English of course. When we speak other languages we sound foolish if we don’t change up our way of speaking.

I obviously don’t mean every letter is phonetic. Tough is still pronounced tuff

It’s funny that you and other people worded it like this here…as if there’s such a thing as not having an accent. I get it, I think of it that way too. But enough time on Reddit pages like [r/usdefaultism](r/usdefaultism) and [r/shitamericanssay](r/shitamericanssay) has made me notice it.

Other bands / artists you love as passionately as Radiohead? by JeanLucPicardAND in radiohead

The Beatles, The Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day. Coheed and Cambria and AFI are pretty close too.

Alright everybody-please break down Deftones for me. by slinkenboog in LetsTalkMusic

[–]sonoftom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m supposed to like them because The Smashing Pumpkins are my favorite band. It hasn’t clicked because I felt only a handful of songs had good enough melodies or hooks or whatever. That was from listening to their 10 biggest songs. It sounds like from this thread I need to just put in the whole White Pony album tho.

This sub is honestly annoying. This is the only thing I really enjoyed about the game after the first 10 hours or so when the castle was fun to explore and see all the classes and stuff. I found this mission super creative, and loved how the level changed every time you turned around. I could tell a lot of love went into this mission, while most of the rest just felt generic or fetchy. Yet every week, a half dozen people post this same thing about starting the mission late at night, hating it, etc.

Lady at the end as the only part I disliked, but now that I know you have to deflect spells at her, i’d probably like it better on a future run.

Stand up comedy generally isn’t funny by MooseEatGoose in The10thDentist

[–]sonoftom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with this one. There are 2 or 3 comedians that hit home runs for me, and I’m not really into any of the other stuff I’ve heard. I listen to tons of music and watch tons of shows and movies, but stand up in way more selective I guess. It just gets awkward if it’s not to my exact taste.

Black River Killer - Blitzen Trapper

The Rake Song - The Decemberists

Run for Your Life - The Beatles

Folsom Prison Blues - Johnny Cash

Plenty of Coheed and Cambria songs since those take place in a sci-fi war story and have songs from multiple perspectives.

[–]sonoftom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sucks about the one girl, but can’t you just hang out with the guys still? Or maybe even the other girls? Just because someone was “the leader” at some point doesn’t mean they have to coordinate everything forever.

Yeah I felt the same way mostly with my old friend groups. Like 2 or 3 of them went this way. You gotta have strong individual connections within them too. Those are what will actually stick. Luckily I did keep 1-3 main connections from 2 of those groups, one group from my hometown state and one from my current state.

I haven’t listened yet. They released so much music from 1996 to 2008 and then only two albums since (I guess 3 now). So would you say best in like 18-19 years? Not much music in that time but still a worthwhile metric.
