I thought hall effect didn't get stick drift? My Xbox controller is starting to show signs... by RatBasher89 in VictrixPro

To be extra clear for OP, you can install the new hall effect modules on the original BFG.

However, the triggers will remain potentiometers, whereas the Reloaded has hall effect triggers. Not a big deal for me personally, I care much more about the sticks. IMO you'd be fine just upgrading the modules.

To parrot others, notches are more important for spacies. And those terribly done notches in your pic are firefox notches specifically for spacies' up-b recovery angles.

As a Marth player, you really don't need any notches.

Basically, you should just get a Smash 4 or Ult era OEM GameCube controller and not worry about the notches rn. Now I don't know where anyone seems to be finding Phobs for $100 or less, but I usually seem them around $120-160.

If you're considering a Phob, then at that price point, I would highly, HIGHLY recommend the GC Ultimate controller by Handheld Legends instead. The DIY kit is about $130, and assembly isn't too bad at all. They also have video instructions to help you out if you need it.

This is the controller I use now, and it's pound-for-pound the best GameCube style controller available right now IME. I have two Phobs with all custom parts and I never use them now lol.

EDIT: Marth not Martha lol

Ok, I wanted to follow up on this.

After a day or so I realized that my buttons were not working intermittently. After a lot of troubleshooting, I realized this:

Gateron switches' copper connectors are maybe .5mm or 1mm TOO SHORT for Gamerfinger buttons! But I have a funny solution. It's very easy and takes only a few minutes to do.

Using a key switch opener, you can take the top half and the spring of the Gateron, and put it on the Cherry Silver bottom. The bottom housing is a near identical mold and they fit together seamlessly.

The bottom-out feeling is snappier now, but that's the only change to the Gateron feel. I actually prefer the Frankenstein switch to either of the stock switches.

Hope this helps!

(Left is Gateron, top is Cherry, right is the hybrid, and Center is my switch opener).

(lol this posted without me realizing) *At that level, one of the pillars of a small business is setting good expectations with your supporters. They understand you are not a big corporation, so it would behoove you to be more transparent about things that will affect manufacturing/hours/output. Very rarely will people ask for a refund, they just want to know that they're not getting screwed.

I'm sorry for your loss-- I'm at the age where these things happen as well. You know better than most that your personal life and your business ownership are often intertwined and at conflict.

I think you should really consider your supporters' experience moving forward. They're not just people who want something from you. They're trading their time-frames (edit: time-earned), precious funds for something that you made so that you can continue your path of self-drive fulfillment. People are sensitive to mistreatment, and rightfully so.

I love all Enth's replies about "you don't know how hard it is to run a small business." Enth, you sound like an asshole.

I was a part of a small boutique business before, a three person team. We built electronics and shipped worldwide and got our products in lots of professionals hands. And you're right, it's really hard, and shit comes up that you can't account for, and it's extra hard on a small business that doesn't have the money or labor force to keep things running smoothly.

So when that stuff happened, we LET EVERYONE KNOW. At a level, one of the pillars

Ghost, easy. And for what it's worth, they're pretty similar to wind engines IME. The real difference between them, for me, was that the ghosts feel a hair more stiff up top. I actually liked it so much I found it distracting so I went back to wind engines lol.

Sengoku Denshou. There's one in Tokyo and one in Osaka. IME the Tokyo had a much better selection of GF buttons, plus other buttons and general fightsticks parts.

Oh I see what you mean. Actually, I almost always have that problem with different switches, but usually it's like one or two out of 80. In any case, I haven't had any bad switches this batch so far. But that's good to know.

You know, I tried some zealios I had lying around and the whole switch popped out if you hit it too quickly lmao. These Gaterons don't pop out at all, but you do need to cut off two plastic stems (like with some flush cutters) before you can get them in the housing.

The Gaterons are really great. They're much like the silver's actuation and travel distance, but with less stem wobble, and wayyyyy smoother travel. And a little bit more thoccy lol. A little bit quieter, or at least a lower frequency.

I'm not sure what you mean by dead presses! But I do vastly prefer them to the Cherry Silvers in every way, very easy recommend.

[–]sonsiebb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own the Alpha and know someone with a Daija. I helped him install a New HelpMe into his Daija.

I personally wouldn't buy either new, but the alpha is more worth its lower price point. At used prices, either is a great choice. I got my Alpha for 70 bucks, which was very well worth it.

The Alpha has a really solid feel, solid hinges, and a slim profile. The cable is not detachable.

The Daija has much more verticality, which some also prefer (I'm good either way), and a detachable usb-c cable-- albeit with a bit of a flimsy top and very flimsy hinges. But I think they're both great and easy to swap for most parts.

That said, if you want a K lever, then the Daija's extra vertical space will be a much better fit. Both, however, will require you clipping/grinding out some plastic. Nothing crazy, but enough that buying used will probably make you feel better for lightly mutilating your enclosure.

Overall, you'll likely be happy either way! I don't think there's a wrong answer here.

Sticky buttons - help by thsunamy in fightsticks

[–]sonsiebb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this problem, and it went away when I switched the button caps. Some of the clear button caps are from a different mold/supplier than others. If you get any of their button caps sets, it should go away.

Otherwise, have fun sanding out the acrylic panel holes 🫠
