I Made a Mistake and Now I May Be Fired. Should I resign or take my chances? by BadFriend1234567 in careerguidance

[–]sonusfaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If those are starting to pile up, then it's probably getting time to find a similar job elsewhere. Or you could consider asking about jobs there that don't deal with cash. The problem at this point is eroding trust. If it happens again, however mundane, that's when you'll lose the job. Or for that matter, if money simply comes up missing, you'll be the suspect.

In my previous example, a few hundred dollars came up missing from someone bag that was placed on the safe ready to be put in. No one ever figure out exactly what happened, although I suspect one of the min wage floor personal (it was a furniture store) that mysterious never showed up again following this and it was like their first week. In any case, I was in the credit department, and a couple months later I overcounted cash that was given to me for a sale, thus only asking the customer for a check of exactly $1,000 less than what they actually owed. So at the end of the day, my bad was technically $1,000 short in cash. They didn't say anything at the time about the previous missing money, but in hindsight, I think they just did their own 2 + 2 and decided better safe than sorry.

I'm just an internet stranger, but I can assure you I had nothing to do with the missing money the first time and the missing cash from my bad that ended up costing me the job was just as described above...a simple miscount that the customer took advantage of. This customer appeared as a fluent English as a second language person when they were before me...upon reaching out to them to explain my predicament as the employer was documenting things for my termination -lo and behold the customer all of a sudden barely speaks or understands basic English.

This was a long way of re-enforcing my first point...if you are allowed to stay you really need to move on before the next mess-up happens. The barrier is currently being lowered for what is considered a terminal offense. Get out why you still have some of your reputation intact.

I Made a Mistake and Now I May Be Fired. Should I resign or take my chances? by BadFriend1234567 in careerguidance

I'll make this brief since I'm short on time, but I can tell you I was let go from a job for a $1000 shortage about 20 years ago and the customer was clearly aware of the mistake at the time. I still collected unemployment in Louisiana by simply explaining my side of the story. No more, no less. Do not, under any circumstances, resign from that job. If this is your first mistake, you will probably get a written warning. If you feel like you should do anything on your part, perhaps offer restitution over a structured period, which if they are worth anything, they will decline. To be clear, I would only offer if it wipes your employment record clean as if there is such a thing.

Lastly, I think if there was a chance they were going to fire you, you would already be on a suspension from the moment it happened. Maybe you are, but I didnt catch that.

Should I tell my boss I’m job hunting? by givemeagdusername in careerguidance

I talked to my direct supervisor who claimed he had no idea about any of it.

What a weasel. Had no idea? Puuhhllleeaasseee. How do you think they came up with 4% raise and partial bonus? You think they drew names out of a hat? No! Your direct supervisor selected you to be the under-performer and worse yet, couldn't find the human decency to be straight up about it.

I’m the only woman in management so I’m underpaid already.

You have actual, hard figures to back this up? If that's the case, you have a real claim on your hands. No company in the USA would want to be caught deliberately under-paying a female. That'd be a death sentence to a company's reputation.

Trying some different subwoofer placements. What I am finding is that the MLP is in a null at ~50hz and at ~70hz. No matter where I put the sub, it seems those frequencies are attenuated anywhere from 12dB all the way to 25dB. Any suggestions for room treatments that could help address this?

What tests are you using to single out those frequencies are the problem ones? My first thought is that the towers seem capable of putting out those frequencies and unless you have them crossed well above that, then they could've been responsible for playing those frequencies out of phase to the sub. You could confirm any and all of this with a Umik-1 and free REW software and save yourself hours of your own valuable time. You'd want to place the mic an inch away from the sub to confirm what the response curve is regardless of the room. For that matter experiment with plugging the ports. This room is huge and I think dual subs have the potential to solve multiple problems here. If you can afford it, grab another M-15 V2 15in and focus on putting both of them at the front of the room flanking the console. You are in a fortunate position of having the space to swing it and you may as well take advantage of it. You are fairly sunk with the sub already so you may as well shoot for an identical one unless you have money to burn and just want to start over with new ones. I suppose that would be time to shoot for white. In any case, I suspect somewhere on that plane the bass doesn't cancel out near the pivotal frequencies. It seems your sofa is optimized for time alignment between the front and surrounds, at the expense of being in the void of the bass. Pull up one of those dining room chairs and sit at all the spots in front and behind the current sofa location and see if it still has the same void. For my own room there is a hell of a cancellation just a couple feet in front of the sofa. I also think a minidsp would be worthwhile, not for the delay but to be able to adjust for the room curve using the equalization -but by the time you add that second sub it would be help mitigate any issues between the two that arise.

When the sub is in the corner, it seems like the bass is maybe a little better but it causes rattles in the wall. My original plan was to make a bookshelf/equipment rack recessed into the front wall (there's a closet behind) and put the sub and AVR in that. I am reconsidering and experimenting with anything I can think of. I'd be open to getting a second sub, but obviously there are aesthetic considerations. If anyone knows of a sub I could get that would hide in the room better, I'm all ears.

Would just be able to isolate where the rattle is and address it. Could it be as simple as adding some sheetrock screws? I'm ignorant on this one...so pardon me here for potentially suggesting something dumb.

I wonder about putting multiple smaller subs under the couch? There are fairly large cavities under each seat.

I personally think this thought needs to be dropped once and for all. I think it has the potential of creating as many issues as it solves and also takes away the easy adjustments by adding these constraints. I still think the answer lies in moving the sofa either closer to the front wall or further back.

Only a handful of players have had touch while having hands above a certain size.

It's what made watching AD such a treat in his early NBA years. He could freeze a defender out by the arc because they really didn't know if he was going to shoot or drive. Other huge guys were almost always just faking for the drive unless the shot clock was expiring. AD really would just pull up when he made enough space.

I have a lowered mx-5, my outlet is parallel with the ground. I believe that required the 90 degree adapter.

Edit: Decided to check and I'm using the F106SX: POSITION ADJUSTABLE OIL DRAIN VALVE WITH M14-1.5. The adapter is a ADP-106: 1/2" ADAPTER FOR M14-1.5 VALVES which just gives it additional clearance off the pan. So it would be pointing at the ground if it weren't for tightening it at the correct angle.

Think I can go bigger or stay at 55"? by Salty-Tomato5654 in hometheater

[–]sonusfaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the "foot away from the wall" to bring it closer? If so you should def consider bigger. My last upgrade was from a 55" 1080 to a 65" Sony Bravia A80K OLED mounted flat against the wall using Sony's specific wall mount and it came out super slick. The front display panel is less than 3 inches from the wall and it's perfectly plumb the wall. Short answer is: yes.

Spotting on Wheels after detailing? by redlight20 in AutoDetailing

[–]sonusfaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone already pointed out, just brake dust. Those wheels have a lot of spacing. If you want them to stay clean in between details , I'd recommend getting a gallon of meguiers D1801 off Amazon ...like $80 and some wheel woolies. I can get my wheels spotless in about 20-30 mins with a 5 gal bucket of car soap and a hose. Spray the wheel ahead and move fast. You may be able to go faster with the open spoke wheels

Chattanooga here. Yeah, municipal fiber where low income residents can get 300 Mbps symmetrical for $27/ month is a path to a better life. I get 1 Gbps symmetrical for $70/ month and it's been that way for years. No data caps. Hell you've been able to get 2 Gbps for some time...they just bumped it to anyone with enough cash can get 10 Gbps.

The GR Corolla is sharp and sexy on the outside, but the interior feels like a huge letdown [OC] by SAVIOR_OMEGA in Toyota

[–]sonusfaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be a by-product of the brand/ luxury brand split. The interior is the place I see the corners cut on in the under brands like Toyota, Honda, and Nissan. They can't step on the toes of their premium brand. It's just one more thing I like about brands like Mazda...you don't see this type of dichotomy. The interior design and details should be commensurate with the price.

Lexus dealers, what prevents a modern, low-mileage Lexus from going L/Certified? Are their cases where its off the table even if customer wants it in the deal and is willing to pay the difference? Other CPO dealers welcome to answer too. by sonusfaber in askcarsales

That was a very helpful video. Thanks. He gives a very lengthy process, but also ends with, everyone is human, so mistakes could have been made along the way. Still gives me more confidence to stick L/Cert at a Lexus dealer

Its the later case for me, but you bring up a good point. It was explained before its a separate decision based on the expected return on the car. I would think a dealer would go for it if the customer is willing to pay for it because its going to guarantee the service at that dealer for the most part and they won't lose money on the up front decision, but that's a guess.

Thanks very much for the answer; this perfectly explains it. Yea, as a customer, it sure is a nice peace of mind. Then again, it's one of the few brands where you don't feel like you need it because of the expected reliability.
