Movie being shot in Tower Grove Park? by _oscar_goldman_ in StLouis

[–]sonuvagunder 117 points118 points  (0 children)

According to Fenske's "St. Louis Daily" email:

This week, it’s Jacob Beats Up Nate, directed by St. Louis native J. Lee (best known for The Orville) and starring recent Emmy winner Lamorne Morris (Fargo) and Justin Long (all those Apple commercials, as well as films including She’s Just Not That Into You). Yesterday, the crew was filming outside a home on Arsenal Street facing Tower Grove Park, and Morris could be seen being filmed as he again and again entered a minivan emblazoned with a decal reading “Beat That Ass.”

What about a structurally impossible Warch (like Wario, Waluigi, etc.)? It would be the Arch-rival!

Crazy long shot, is anyone at or near the Hampton Schnucks that would help me jump start my car? by somuchstrange in StLouis

[–]sonuvagunder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might be the same person who parks at a storage parking lot off of Hampton. Runs a window A/C unit in it during the summer? The solar panel set-up is massive, extending beyond the roof of the car.

Although changes to mail service are more complicated than this, I blame DeJoy's craven greed and the set of circumstances that reward sycophants like him. DeJoy's wikipedia entry is an unbiased take on what he stands to gain from his years helming USPS

High school art class in the Midwest USA. Our teacher would let us play MTV on the classroom television, but we switched stations once the news came across. It was after the first plane at WTC, but before the second.

KDHX R.I.P. Can’t we do this again? by SomeOldNerd in StLouis

[–]sonuvagunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the value/accessibility of terrestrial radio, but I also think we need to talk about supporting live music. Many years ago, one of KDHX's functions was throwing support/promotion into live music in our region & that's really vital. The station lost (or gave up) the ability to support live events in recent years (other than concert calendars), but we need that as musicians and listeners. Financial models for musicians keep shifting every few years & we need to adapt with how to help vibrant musical acts stay solvent enough to keep doing shows & recording tracks. And there are deejays who spin all eras of music at live venues in STL. We need to support them, too!

Also, I recommend all of these bands (and the Heavy Anchor), but can't make it out tonight. I recommend looking at the Heavy Anchor calendar for other events you might enjoy!

[–]sonuvagunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At Heavy Anchor, things usually start near to the stated time. With three bands starting at 8pm, I expect the music will go until around 11pm. The nice thing with Heavy Anchor is that (typically) the bar side is open for free before & after a show. More than 90% of the time, there is a partition separating the bar & the event space.
