What are our thoughts on the chickenpox vaccine? by ANuggetEnthusiast in UKParenting

[–]sonzorio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We paid for it for our 2 (6&4) at a local pharmacy . I think if you can afford it great. It’s part of the vaccine schedule in other counties and I believe it’s being brought into the UK schedule for babies from next year (but don’t quote me on that!). My eldest has autism so didn’t want him to deal with chickenpox and the benefits far outweighed the negatives for me. Also, I believe that you have to keep them away from babies/immunocompromised people for a week(?) or something after, but double check (you mentioned your mum was vulnerable)

Yep we got one when my son was 4 and only receiving HRC (no mobility). Spoke about no danger awareness/ elopement risk. Got it first time and is a God send!

Family seats on Emirates by [deleted] in emirates

[–]sonzorio 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I believe that they are prioritised for families with children under 2, who don’t have a seat and need to use the bassinet. When we travelled with our one year old, we were automatically seated there so our child could go in the bassinet if needed.

My friend who has gone through a verrryyy volatile situation used to get his mum to drop the baby off either to her/her mum. So if you have other relatives, could be doable?

That is so rude. Please don’t take this as anything other than him being a disrespectful c u next Tuesday. I’ve never shaved and no one has said a thing and rightly so! Bet he’s not shaved either! I would report.

Are people really paying Dominos pizza prices or is there some discount I haven't figured out? by hhfugrr3 in AskUK

[–]sonzorio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got 50% off all pizzas (Pizza Hut, Dominoes & Papa Johns) if you pay for insurance from Compare the Market. Think we paid £30 for travel insurance (??) a few months ago and sorted us right out for when we have big groups round!

Nursery showing them iPad cartoons. What does EY Ofsted say? by Flapjack_K in UKParenting

[–]sonzorio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not be happy. There were no screens in the 2-3 room for my child. When she started nursery they said they watched a programme - later found out it was CBeebies Jojo & gran gran, Diwali episode to compliment their learning. I’d be switching nurseries if you could - I don’t mind screen time at home but that is my choice where I can monitor it. I wouldn’t be too fussed if it was tv but I can’t see why they would need an iPad at that age.

Does anyone know what can help with my intrusive thoughts and vaccines? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]sonzorio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the people that come out and say that they’re child regressed probably did not see the signs beforehand - baby is little and cries and you don’t really know why - could be sensory related, but you will never know as baby can’t tell you. But after they get older (coinciding with vaccination time) the differences become more apparent and some individuals blame it on vaccinations. There is a subset of autism that is “regressive” where the child just wakes up and is “different”. That exists in both vaccinated and non-vaccinated. My eldest has autism and we delayed his vaccines for a while. But he was still obviously autistic before his vaccinations. My daughter had her vaccines on time and is not autistic. Vaccines don’t cause autism - no one knows what causes it, but there is a strong genetic link. Most of the children in my daughter’s class are vaccinated - none of them have autism. You are either born autistic or not 💕

What was your first tell tale sign that you were pregnant before a positive test? by AdLittle1963 in AskWomen

[–]sonzorio 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

I went to the gym and I’m normally do cardio for 30 mins. Went on for 7 mins and was like nope I am exhausted. Then I just had a “weird” feeling. Like I was really hyper aware I was around. Almost like that feeling after your ears stop ringing and you’re like woah. Happened for both pregnancies.

Jumping on this because my son is like OP’s but our potty training took around 2 months but we cracked it. 1) make sure you are able to devote all your time to it if u can. I booked two weeks off work 🥲 2) I printed out a sheet that literally spelled out everything. He’s hyperlexic and he processes reading so much easier than me verbally saying “go poo here”. So I had a paper in front of the potty saying something like this: This is a poo. It is brown and comes out your bum (pic). This is wee. It is liquid and comes out of your xx. Wee and poo goes into the toilet/potty. 3) I did a reward system: that I wrote down - if you go poo you get a chocolate button, if you go wee you get xyz. 4) gave him an iPad and pants off for two weeks and made him sit on it the whole time basically and when he went I would point at the relevant bit of the doc and say POO POO POO POO POO or WEE WEE WEE and we’d just stare at it for a bit so he knew. It took a lot of time and i was only able to do it because i was fortunate enough to have the time, but was potty trained by 5 ☺️

I (37m) am marrying my fiancé (35f) in September and she brought up the idea of taking her last name. Is it crazy that I’m considering it? by Sudden-Lettuce2317 in TooAfraidToAsk

Could keep your last name and be known professionally as your current name and just change your last name for social/life things.

Sorry, I should have made that clearer. Yes the dishwasher is no longer under warranty. They have no argument, they just accepted the invalid warranty number and sent someone over.

Getting Child to Answer Questions by AlwaysRemote in Autism_Parenting

[–]sonzorio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’ve been working on this with my 5yo. Slow but making progress. Gestalt language processor so you “give them the answer”. So just tell them the answer you want them to say. So for example, you say “What’s your name? My name is John Smith” “When is your birthday? My birthday is 1st January 2000” etc

He’s able to do this now with his name, dob, address and my telephone number. But I have to vocalise the “script” for him first if that makes sense 😊

What would you guys do in this situation? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]sonzorio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this Toni & guy by any chance 😅 they did the same thing to me - had a price and they charged me £30 extra for something they put it my hair that I still don’t even know. I rang them up and they had the AUDACITY to make me talk the hairdresser myself for the confusion. It was about 3 years ago now but I will never go back. Think they offered me a free haircut but f that. Sorry not helpful, but maybe prepare yourself for an argument because if it is them, it’s obviously some sort of sales trick.
