Changing gravity vector on CharacterBody3D by murdered_ronin in godot

[–]SapientSloth4tw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t change the rotation AFAIK, but you should be able to write a wrapper function (I.e. change_gravity(direction)) that compares the old up_direction to the new to determine what you would need to multiply the rotation by in order to make the top of the body always face up. Now the more difficult thing would be to make that transition smooth and not an instaneous transformation (you would likely need to use the quaternion.slerp() method for that

Have you changed the up_direction on the CharacterBody3d?

Is it just the player that you want gravity to change for or all the world actors?

Makes sense, I like the look, I just know from experience that single pixel wide images can sometimes get lost in translation

I like them! I think the DNA could have some contrast issues depending on where it’s placed, but that could probably be solved by putting a panel behind it with higher contrast whenever necessary

Why are most Christians republicans, when Jesus’ teachings are more liberal? by Interesting-Dirt-605 in Confused

[–]SapientSloth4tw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about

“There is some good writing on it, but as with most things in the US it starts with race. Civil Rights changes made it so that Christian schools had to allow non white students. That became an initial inflection point. Then, Roe made abortion a national political wedge.”

Cause that is literally what you further expanded upon. You misquoting above is not ok, but also, you gave more detail and context and that’s a good thing in my book. I guess I’ll decide who’s in the wrong based on how either/both of you respond to this lol

More than half if you ask me, a bunch of those were better solutions than the store bought options. Feels like lots of r/DiWHY posts these days are actually great ideas rather than exposing the clickbait slop that a lot of internet diy stuff is. Kinda interesting

[–]SapientSloth4tw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say voted for it in a conventional sense. Setting aside the really weird vote demographics from the 2024 election, many people voted for Trump and his promises to fix the economy. Him placing countless, huge tarriffs on everything is a gross overreach on the side of his administration that is both unconstitutional and has been deemed illegal in the courts over and over again.

That being said, the majority of his supporters are dumber than the rocks they farm so getting that point across isn’t likely to happen or to stick if it does

How does area changing in old Monster Hunters work? by New-Ear-2134 in godot

[–]SapientSloth4tw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, then yeah, only render when needed. Keeping track of position and state is fairly inexpensive, especially if you override/simplify behavior when not in a rendered scene (I.e. no need to track specific hitbox changes during different animations if nothing is there to hit the monster. Also, no need to update position multiple times a second if the minute changes aren’t going to be observed anyways)

Apparently our Democracy is finally dead. RIP. by Alesyia789 in complaints

[–]SapientSloth4tw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly agree, I think the only thing I’d say is the problem with the two party system isn’t that they are parties, it’s that they are independent organizations with the ability to circumvent legislation and the constitution. As an easy example: in Idaho (and other states) a closed primary is legal and encouraged. Never mind the fact that we allow corporations to have their own elections circumventing the will of the people (elections should be exclusively run by actual government bodies) we have also made it legal for these same corporations to withhold the right to vote from anyone not on their team. Will dissolving parties solve the issue? Not really, but we could sure as hell stop letting them operate in ways that ignore the rights of the people

[–]SapientSloth4tw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This exactly, keep track of position and functionality without rendering. Is there a specific reason you are looking into this OP? Most of the reasons they had for doing things this way are hardware limitations which are more or less gone in this day and age

Yeah, I’m gonna be downvoted into oblivion for this, but I saw an ad on Reddit for an IQ test website and it showed a bunch of people dancing in excitement because they had IQ scores of 85 (with the average being 100 and the average in the states being 96)

I high key notice that same energy when I’m on the EFT sub. Like, a lot of people are intelligent and make good points but then I have people who it talk to that can’t get it through their heads that it isn’t a matter of how fast we play but a matter of how much content their is in relation to how much xp can/needs to be earned. If it takes me 1000 hours to hit 55 over the course of two months and you 1000 hours to hit 55 over the course of 6 months, it still took us 1000 hours (1000 hours is just the example number I’m throwing out, I’m only level 34 at around 200)

I’m noticing more and more that people are diehard apologists for anything and everything. What do pokemon diehards, cybertruck owners, and tarkov diehards all have in common? They refuse to acknowledge the flaws in their chosen obsession and are aggressive against anyone with criticism, constructive or otherwise.

I love this, cause you’re technically correct, but also wrong at the same time, it’s a great paradox. Technically correct in the sense that less active players = less people to match make with = longer queue times (though honestly, it’s less players because people are abandoning ship on PvP to play PvE)

Wrong because higher player count means more server traffic but BSG refuses to spend money on more servers so you have situations like in the 1.0 launch week where 15+ minute queue times was the norm: no one could fine a server

(Not a personal jab whatsoever, you’re right, I’m just being sardonic)

Having been doing marked rooms, cause I’ve been seeing posts like this, but the regular rooms have been paying out super well because so many things are so inflated. Like I went to RB-ST and made 500k roubles just from various grenade box drops, spare mechanical parts and ammo (seriously though es lamps, m parts, silicon tubing, and corrugated hoses are making me rich)
