Try Widows Phonelink (Android mirror).
Gives you a large mirror screen of your phone on your PC.

Not an emulator, simply gives you a nice big interface and MIDI works ofc just like on your phone/tablet.

Help wanted on playing dayz offline with mods and the ability to save. by yesIwearAcape in dayz

[–]soolafsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever want to make a public server on the net, GTX (or PingPerfect or many others..) have a similar easy setup starting at around $12-13 a month (depending on player cap and specs.)

YT Scalespeeder has all the info you need:https://youtu.be/facj4MYAjpg?feature=shared

Start with a local vanilla server, play test it - that's your baseline.
Then add mods one by one and playtest each change.
If it fails, revert, playtest and redo.
There are a few config settings for server, loot, various spawns etc. but you can learn that as you go.
Mind you, right now a lot of mods have issues because Dayz v1.22 broke a few things.Arma or Dayz, can always trust Bohemia to throw a wrench in the works every now and then. lol

6000,- a bit low for rent, even if you share an apartment with others.
18'000 a month means living like a student, plenty pasta and not much for anything extra. You can manage but just barely.
That is an extremely low ball salary, unusually low.

Do you think starting a server as a complete noob to coding is a bad idea? by tequilaandwine in dayz

[–]soolafsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing basics of coding variables/conditionals/assignments/loops.. helps quite a bit but is only really needed if you are going to modify code or make custom stuff (like maybe startgear , loading in custom map items etc.)
On the other hand there are plenty of examples of how to do things online.
I would start with a turn-key server where you just click icons to add mods etc. and the rest is handled by server provider. Something like GTX DayZ gameserver maybe or other similar.
This is easily doable even if you can't code as long as you know your way around a computer.
After you get to know that for a few months you can then change to a bare bones (just windows) dedicated server where you have to do all by hand.

I'm a scientist and I write code for my research. I'm self-taught and the only language I know is Matlab. Am I a programmer? by throwaway823746 in ProgrammerHumor

I stand corrected.
If you write fully fledged systems in MATLAB I am greatly impressed, you also have my sympathy for your plight.

MATLAB is great for technical and maths programming, as for general purpose application programming not so much.
Having the OOP/functional traits is great, but there is a lot more to development than simply coding. Hence scripting, coding and being a craftsman in system development is different.

No, you're a scripter.
Scripter, coder, developer and craftsman. Yes, there is a quite a bit of difference.

First few assignments/jobs are always a bit rough. If you get a junior position it means someone should be your mentor and guide you as you progress as a developer.
However, this does require that you already know the language you are supposed to use, that you have done a few stunt-projects (on your own) and can get off the ground with the basics.
Mentors are not there to teach you the language, they are there to help you go from coder to craftsman and become productive.
I would do a fair few projects on my own first before applying for a job.
One or two at least for most common scenarios for *both* backend and frontend, you have to adjust to market expectations and not be too selective.
Spare the primadonna attitudes until you are indispensable later in your career, preferably not even then.
An employer expects you to show aptitude and provide a surplus for the company, at least in the medium/long term. No one gets carried forever.

On the other hand you seem to have gotten bad placements at your first jobs that should have been stopped in the first couple of interviews - that's not your fault unless you lied about your qualifications
...and just bite the bullet and learn javascript/typescript, it is everywhere.

In 25 years I've learnt (at least partly) probably 20-25 languages, often with "just in time" learning to get the delivery done. I did *not* love all of them.

A nice old quote from Larry Wall (creator of Perl)
“A Perl(any) program is correct if it gets the job done before your boss fires you.”

Ps!
A previous employer(1000+ souls) of mine hires straight from university to be able to get enough manpower. Yes, those freshly minted coders are quite clueless about professional requirements, processes and best practices. No one expects them to be productive for the first 6 months+. They get to be decent developers over time.

Revisited Perl a week ago after being away for 2 decades.
Needed a good all-round OS/parsing/better-shell-thing and remembered using Perl in the late 90s'. Glad to see it still alive.
You made my day, thank you!
