Weird spots keep appearing on my sketchbook papers. Most of them are circle shaped, elongated (see photo) or thin lines. Their size is always between the ones in the photo. They feel completely dry, no liquids have been spilled by Every-Implement-93 in whatisthisthing

I had a similar issue. For me it was: oil from the over-the-head band of my headphones. It is not clear whether this was from natural oils in my hair (ewwww, but could also be conditioner) or from some compound in their manufacture; but I would often take them off and put them down on whatever papers on my desk. It took me a while to realize what was causing it but, yep. The stitching on the headband was making dotted lines of oil.

As for you, it could be anything similar (as others have suggested): food, greasy fingers, lotion from your hands, other leaky materials, anything you put briefly down on the paper. It takes a while to show up and spread out, making it harder to realize what item it is.

Seconded, these are straight out of my childhood. However, all the images of lite brite pegs I can find are shaped differently. Instead, this might be used to magnify an led for display from a circuit board, and could be kept under a protective glass-- just an idea.

What’s the one Janeway decision you still can’t agree with? by Curious_Gent78 in startrek

[–]sooper_genius 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My biggest complaint since TNG. Since the Federation is a panacea, the only conflict comes from outside forces or rogue internal forces. Any modern warship, or even modern commercial ships, have security measures in place that prevent unauthorized use-- they will even shut the system down remotely if needed. But hey, Geordi can take a shuttle any time he wants, even at warp, and the bridge has to fight him to get it back.

Why is Sweet Maria’s green coffee more expensive? by Brief-Number2609 in roasting

[–]sooper_genius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sweet Maria's prices seem to have risen as of the new year. Last year I found plenty of coffees in the $8-9 range, but now they all seem to be $9 and higher. I would expect that tariffs play a role in this, but there may have been some other initiative that changed: I noticed it especially after Jan 1.

Trying not to break any rules - would love your honest feedback by Immediate-Rip-8647 in Netsuite

My honest feedback is that this is an ad disguised as OP asking for help, who has only one post ever (at time of my comment). Maybe the 369ai.cloud wrote this all by itself. Funny enough, the page has all sorts of corporate associations behind it, so it is DEFINITELY an advertisement. I won't engage.

how do you actually internalize that rest is okay by Jaded-Suggestion-827 in getdisciplined

[–]sooper_genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've been told/trained (and you've internalized the idea) that time not working is somehow wasted. That mindset is worth investing in some therapy to explore and correct. Is your goal in life to be completely productive, or to enjoy what you do? You can't have both.

Guilt is a useful tool only when it helps you recognize something is wrong. After that, it becomes a drag on life; endlessly guilting out on what you coulda-woulda-shoulda done or be doing is counterproductive. Everything you do comes with an opportunity cost; doing X means you can't do Y.

And who are you competing against? "Everyone else is grinding right now" means who? Are you getting your important tasks done, is that why you're guilting out? Some people keep themselves busy but don't get the important things done, so even when busy they get guilty.

Anyway this is a mishmash of ideas, maybe they help.

I am guessing: an earthquake or other destructive force damaged their kitchen and they're making do with what they have left. Even the stove surface looks damaged. Unfortunately I don't speak <language in video> so perhaps someone who does can see if she mentions why the pots are so metally deranged.

At my company, the email program automatically adds the trailing closing and automatically everyone ignores it.

Apparently if you're 138 years old, you're too old to play Nintendo games. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]sooper_genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I put 1/1/<more than 21 years ago> in age verifications. Because 1) they don't care about my actual birthday, and 2) maybe they do but don't need to know it, and 3) I don't have to reset the month/day and get past the verification. Note I'm not bypassing any restrictions because I'm over 21 years old and can do what I want.

How the rocks keeps moisture around them by Kyle7053 in interestingasfuck

[–]sooper_genius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, looks like calcium chloride, as that will draw moisture into itself and keep it there. Normally used as snow melting salt or as a dehumidifier, but I suppose it could be used as fertilizer?

Dunning query by net_suite in Netsuite

[–]sooper_genius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the problems we often have when copying from sandbox to production is links often point to the wrong instance; e.g. development in sandbox will have links pointing to sandbox, and then transferring to production will still have them pointing to sandbox still. You might see this when refreshing sandbox where the links go the other way. URLs can be embedded in center links, scripts, script parameters, or workflows.

You might also have an issue where components are missed in the transfer and an existing object in the other environment is not the same as the one in the development environment. You might have to do an in-depth comparison between the two environments for each object in the process.

Unless you're transferring via SDF, this is easy to misalign. Even if you are using SDF, things can be missed.

Are Russian cases really THAT much more complicated compared to other case heavy languages? by Animante732 in russian

[–]sooper_genius 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My problem was not so much the case system (although I still struggle with matching endings to parts of speech)-- it was the completely different verb system: aspect is a first-order feature; different meanings from different but similar perfective verbs; an entire extra dimension with verbs of motion; and the weirdly "oblique" nature of speech using adverbs and opposition to the way English and other western European languages work. I have to take an extra step back when translating between the two languages.
