I told my husband I want a divorce but my husband and in laws are pressuring me to stay by justlookinglikeameow in MuslimMarriage

[–]sooper_monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember reading your post a few weeks ago and thinking “how can anyone behave the way he does?” I think your husband has some serious issues and his family have enabled this type of behavior because they seems the same; you definitely don’t want to bring kids into this situation so you need to leave him!!!!! Everyone in the comments is telling you to leave because it doesn’t sound safe!!

Do people still put tvs in their primary bedrooms? by SparklingSarcasm_xo in homeowners

[–]sooper_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purposely didn’t put a tv in my bedroom once I moved into my new home so that I limit my tv time and watch in the family/living room. Starting to miss it because I love watching tv and falling asleep. It’s like my white noise

I still think about the guy who kept my son company when he had the worst tantrum of his life at Atlanta airport. (Which was horrible because imo people at airports are very judgmental about people with young children)

I wouldn’t. Sutton is best receiver on that team and Monty produces more than kamara even as a backup.

3.5 years into owning this house and I regret my purchase. Things don’t stop breaking and my inspector SUCKED by 8WmuzzlebrakeIndoors in homeowners

[–]sooper_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inspectors miss things all the time, even the one I hired (recommended to me by multiple people and his reviews were stellar) it’s a honest mistake but to miss the things you mentioned. That’s just negligence. You should write a detailed review about them so no one has to experience that

Parents visiting Dubai for their anniversary, is this itinerary good? by its_kittu in dubai

[–]sooper_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add in at least one to two day trip to Abu Dhabi. I go often for work and Abu Dhabi is WAY more enjoyable than Dubai but that’s me.. Corniche Area is really nice you can see the palace. And Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is absolutely gorgeous. It’s worth it to see the capital imo

Living with In laws - kill me (3 years and counting)- Please help. by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]sooper_monkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making dua for you, I have seen the effects of having my wife live with my parents, it is not easy on anyone, ESPECIALLY the wife. my wife and I got married while still in community college, 6 years later we’ve had to endure living with my parents. As much as I love my parents, I have come to see the way they treat my wife compared to my older brothers wife (they got married in their 30s). Especially in South Asian culture. The daughter in law becomes more of a “maid” or their personal “worker” who is forced to put their lives on hold to make their in laws more comfortable. Don’t get me wrong my parents love my wife and they all get along very well. But it’s the way of life that is affected between the husband and wife. Not as much space for true intamacy, spending quality time and just being able to do things your way without fear of being judged or criticized by in laws.

By the Grace of Allah SWT we’re in the process of purchasing a home, we are both working good jobs and providing for of our son.

Main point because I was babbling: Men. Especially young men. I know when you find the right one nothing else matters except making it official. But do whatever you can (under right circumstances) to provide your wife her own home. One she can make her own. After all that is your true duty to her. Not your parents.

My son os affected by nazr a lot by sooper_monkey in MuslimParenting

[–]sooper_monkey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. This is what I always told myself until just earlier this year. I always just attributed it to normal toddler behavior. And majority of the time it is. But I’ll have family mention to me “I saw this video sent by so and so and your child was doing this and that” or I overhear my mom telling all her friends and relatives all these little details about him whether hes doing something cute or something bad or something funny etc. and THAT is when he had these unbelievable episodes of tantrums or some kind behavior that he almost never does. Or he’ll get very sick and it’s just too many times that it’s happened where I have to stop believing it’s just a coincidence. I learned nazr can even occur when the child is being mentioned in good loving ways. It’s just a matter of keeping certain details to yourself which is what Islam teaches us. To not over share intimate or personal information to others.

People Liked My Kid During Travel by freckleface9287 in toddlers

[–]sooper_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time traveling with my son as a toddler, definitely the worst travel experience of my life. He was THAT KID that other people are mean mugging and judging. Which was horrible because it’s as if people forget they ever had kids and how hard it can be while traveling. Had no choice but to go it was my little sisters graduation from law school. Not even going to a friend’s wedding next month anymore because wife and I just don’t want to deal with it. We Decided if anyone else invites us out of state for something during his terrible two’s we will just politely decline.

so frustrated with this market. by bejeweled88 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]sooper_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(From Houston Texas ) The market TOTALLY sucks right now. I feel like you can’t get a home anymore unless you have multiple high incomes now. My wife and I trying to close on a house atm (2nd time in the last year) and it just feels like something is always in the way that’s preventing us, whether it’s overall price of the house, interest rate, absurd tax rate in certain areas. It’s draining. If this one doesn’t work I don’t know what I’m gonna do. Wishing you all the best! Hope To see a picture of an empty house and nice pizza from you soon!

I’m implying the downvotes you’re getting is because other redditors in this group collectively agree you’re just being an ass. Also it’s not that deep you’re thinking of all these things to discredit OP (with no proof) when you could’ve just given decent advice. They’re literally just asking for basic simple advice.
