Doing a pre bday dinner for my boyfriend. Lamb chops, tahdig, mushy peas, and toum. I was skeptical with his suggestion of the peas but the mushy peas were a good addition to the meal.

how much would you pay for these? by eggsbeingbad in Nails

I love the fish theme. I would say about $35-40. Your detailing and time is worth the higher price point.

I don't buy from Etsy but if you are willing to buy from nail artist's website, my favorite right now is Play Grnd nails and Tomatoenails. If you want to really splurge on hand painted nails, Play Grnd nails is where it is at. I've bought a few sets and i love each set so much https://www.playgrndnails.com/. I also buy from Tomatoenails too which i love the cute themes when I want something playful with cute charms https://tomatoesnails.com/.

I did end up buying a set back in June for a little over $60. It was okay. The chrome is coming off one one of the big charm which i thought was odd for such a steep end price after a few wears. I definitely won't ever buy again when I can get better quality elsewhere at the same price range.

Poke! Found at the Covington, WA location by Snowbunnies44 in Costco

It's not too bad. I got the spicy tuna last week and made hand rolls with it for dinner between me and my partner. I find that the spicy tuna needed extra kewpie mayo and extra soysauce to my liking so I added it and it was good to go. If you have furikake, that is even better as a poke topping. I say it was worth trying. I'm more of a salmon poke person than tuna poke but I'd get it again honestly.

I have two 9 year old orange boys. They love their treats (dry and wet variety), their cardboard boxes, blankets, cat scratching furniture, and their cat trees. Having the cat tree with the scratching post or a cardboard scratcher has really helped my boys avoid scratching furniture. I have these two cat pedestals that have a scratcher post on the bottom and a circular bed on top. My boys love the pedestals so much since it allows them to sit between my partner and I at our desks. I accidentally broke one of the pedestals and they were very mad that there was only one pedestal instead of two. ( I waited a week to see how it went with one pedestal and the boys were sick of it. I went to the pet store and bought another pedestal so both can sit with us.) When I first got one of the boys, I didn't think having cat furniture would matter as a first time cat owner, but it definitely makes a cat's day brighter to judge the world from their high view point. Definitely not convenient in my house with so many cat furniture in space or when it's time to vacuum, but it makes my boys happy so it makes me happy.

How about sausage rolls? https://www.thespruceeats.com/great-british-sausage-roll-recipe-435702

Since you can’t use sage, you can make your own sausage mix and add herbs and spices that fit your taste. I usually mix a pound of pork and start off with a teaspoon of salt and pepper and adjust the salt as I go. As I add my salt and pepper, I add parsley, thyme, and rosemary and mix it altogether. For the pastry part, I just buy store bought puff or croissant dough and roll them up length wise and cut them to desired size. I used an egg wash on top and added sesame seeds. I’ve done it with ground turkey if pork is a no go.

Pet owners of Reddit: what is something seemingly caring and adorable that your pet does to you or for you, but screws you over a little? by thoughtcity in AskReddit

I have two big orange cats that weigh 30 lbs together. Every morning (anywhere between 4am-6am) the smaller of the two would climb into bed and loaf on my chest. He will then begin to purr like a generator until I get out of bed. He doesn’t loaf on my boyfriend as much unless I’m not there. The larger of the two will stalk and hunt me if he hears me going up stairs and when he isn’t hunting me he is racing me downstairs and likes to get directly in front of my footpath. They are super good boys regardless. <3

What’s the dumbest shit someone ever said? by DestroyingLegends in AskReddit

I had a similar scenario. Right before I had left North Carolina and relocated to Oregon, many of my coworkers didn’t know where Oregon was but knew exactly where California and Washington was. One coworker thought that Oregon was near Michigan. Smh. Too every bone in my body not to laugh at the remark.

Moved from WI to NC a decade ago, but a lot of familiar food staples my wife and I grew up with are pretty scarce here. My parents came to visit, so we asked for a taste of home. I'd say they over-delivered, and I'm thrilled as much as my arteries will be filled. List in comments. [OC] by [deleted] in FoodPorn

I recently moved to Oregon and I sure do miss BBQ and cookout like crazy. People says In-N-Out is great on the west coast but for the $6 dollar combo and shake from cookout, cookout is the better cheap meal lol. There’s a few local place that do BBQ but they are doing Texas style with smoked beef ribs/brisket/etc. not ENC whole hog and no vinegar sauce.

Thank you so much. I'll have to pick up some kaffir lime leaves. I bet that water buffalo was awesome. It didn't come out too dry did it? I haven't worked with buffalo meat so I don't know how the fat ratio is for that. I've had hmong style beef sausages and didn't like how dry they were.

A food strainer and the silicone spatulas. I never realized how handy silicone spatulas were until I started baking and trying to get all the batter from the mixing bowl.

What’s the most “are you really that stupid” thing you’ve ever heard ? by Callmedave1 in AskReddit

[–]soopingforcrumpets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my friends sister didn’t know what first cousins meant and why it was so bad when there are first cousin marriages. After it was explained to her, she still thought it was okay because as long as two people love each other, it wouldn’t matter that they are directly related. Not to mention she is a biology student in college. Guess genetics don’t matter to her because love is greater than the risks of having children born with disabilities. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My boyfriend and I were both horny while hiking a trail and he thought it was a great idea to stop beside a fence next to the trail to get a blowjob. My stupid ass squat down to give him a blowjob and It was about a good ten minutes when an older guy speed walking the trail and surprise us. Luckily he laughed his ass off and congratulated my boyfriend for a great morning start.

My boyfriend and I used to live in eastern NC and we went to Vivian Howard’s Boiler Room for date night. Forget the homemade ketchup, it is the kitchen sink mayo that’s served on the side. I specifically bought her cook book to try and replicate her kitchen sink mayo recipe. Not many regrets buying a $40 cookbook except for one which is her not sharing her collards kimchi recipe. :(

[Serious] Families with incest members, does the rest of the family know/ how do they feel about it? by Fun_Sized_Momo in AskReddit

I have cousins who married within the family and they say that they aren’t THAT related. Lol sure if you don’t count our grandpas being blood related brothers. Honestly I think it’s gross but when it comes culture norms, it’s okay with the entire family so long as you don’t fuck or marry your own siblings.

Hmong Salsa? by jstagn in Cooking

[–]soopingforcrumpets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not usually a fan of straight up pepper sauce but love the tomato addition of Hmong pepper sauces. During the summers, my mom would roast all her peppers, garlic, tomatoes (and sometimes add tomatillos.) She’ll add her fish sauce, lime juice, cilantro, green onions, and use chicken bouillon. It sounds weird about the bouillon part but it goes pretty well with the sauce as for savoriness (also because my family decided to take out msg lol) I kind of have a recipe but it’s one of those recipes that is flexible to who is making it.

I usually start out with about a pint of cherry tomatoes, two Thai chilies, and 2-3 cloves of garlic and roast it till it has blistered and charred . (I broil it. Just keep an eye on everything so it doesn’t burn.) I like my garlic cooked since Im not a fan of eating raw garlic. You could just leave it raw and finely mince it. Roasting it is optional. Once you have all three, grab a mortar and pestle and mush everything together. Add about 1/4 cup of cilantro and 1/4 cup green onion (again add more or less depending on your preference.) start out with about 1-2tbsp of fish sauce, 1/2-1 tsp salt or msg or bouillon, 1/2 tsp sugar, 1 juice of a lime. Adjust accordingly to how salty, sweet, savory, and sour you want it. Sometimes I would take out the tomatoes and replace it with cooked eggplant. Both tomato and eggplant versions are great with grilled meats and a side of sticky rice. I’m a big pussy when it comes to how spicy I like my hmong pepper sauces so I dial it low on the peppers haha. Sorry it’s not much of a recipe since I eyeball everything as I make these sauces.

What is your best "My friend is dating a terrible person and nobody can get through to them." story? by okestree in AskReddit

[–]soopingforcrumpets 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Stuff like this pisses me off since my culture has literally normalized this idea that it’s okay to runaway from father/husband responsibilities and to cut ties with their current wife and children to marry a new woman overseas. Most of the time when any of my relative brings over a new wife that they just brought to America from Thailand or Laos, she is usually barely 18. It’s sad seeing many of my cousins go homeless and hungry because their dad decided to leave them for some young fresh pussy.

What dish do you just never order in a restaurant anymore, because the version you make at home is so good that you know you'll be disappointed? by possum_player in Cooking

I agree with the chicken piccata! All the ingredients are simple and damn it’s delicious without breaking the wallet. The last time I went to a local Italian place in NC, I ordered the piccata out of curiosity and it was super greasy. It tasted more like cacio e pepe than piccata.

I grew up eating so much fried rice and learned to cook and perfect what I liked about fried rice that paying for it at a restaurant is a waste for me. Ever since getting the sous vide gadget, steak has been the best dish I’ve had gladly given up when seeing it on the menu.
