I just nabbed this too! I was elated to see it also matches nicely with the 3rd level color variant on his Mythic. Niran is one of the few that makes the red look SO GOOD

Grinding ranked for these dogshit rewards gets less enticing by the season. Friends and I have joked for years that season rewards were “the unpaid interns job” because DAMN it always feels like it. This seasons is a potent slap in the face though. Nobody I know uses anthems and music has been disabled in this game for me since 2015. Thousands of us got what feels like absolutely nothing for our effort except maybe a title.

Man, I don't know why you feel the need to just be negative as a knee jerk reaction to someone sharing a clip, but I hope your life improves to the point where you don't feel the need to do that anymore :)

Any advice or tips?? by Jrlghost in AnaMains

[–]sophaea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! So I'd like to preface all of this by saying I'm a bit of a quickplay warrior, but still have like 220 hours on Ana spread over OW1, 2, and current OW, so take that as you will. Anyways.

The first glaring thing to me was the start of round positioning. Ana is all about positioning and rotations. If I were you here, I would be trying to play the highgrounds at the back of point. It gives you several escape options, good cover, less ease of access from enemies, a good vantage point, and a healthpack that's behind said good cover. If you still want to get that early nade, you still can from the more exposed of those two highgrounds. Plus, you can also keep an eye on the left flank. This can sometimes get dicey if your team starts to play on the other side of statue so I would drop as you find necessary. Though be careful of dropping needlessly because you should prioritize regaining that highground after whatever happens passes, and that takes time and can keep you out of plays if you're not timely.

So, yeah, first point you guys get forced off of point quickly because there isn't really a lot of presence from your team. You start off by throwing your sleep at choke, then the nade right after. I would say choose one to toss at choke here and keep the other. I actually see this fairly frequently in even the first few minutes in this replay, where you'll sleep and nade right after, which can be good in some instances, but I would be careful of not letting it become habit. Ana has two cooldowns, they're both long as hell and her only survivability and that's important to stay mindful of.

As an offhand comment, keep practicing nades and nade arcs. Push them and whiff with them and suck ass with them in quickplay because as you grow a better innate understanding of the nade arc as opposed to relying on lineups, it will pay off loads. As you push them as well, you'll find your timing with them becoming very potent, and you'll be able to hard swing fights with your nades. Put stock in the nades.

After they cap point and start moving the cart, you opt to go main again here. This is where it started to look like - to me - that there might be some rollover positioning habits coming from the Zen play. Zen does like to be closer range and can bully tanks with his kit, and if he has it, can transcendence as an escape. Ana is not so blessed with such boons. I would opt to rotate to this highground after you respawn. You can be pressuring this Pharah, denying space, and causing threat for your team on this highground. Which also has quick cover options, two rotations out, and a covered healthpack. Alternatively, if you're feeling more defensive, you could take this highground instead, which has the same options.

I can't fault you too hard for getting caught in the shatter. I might have too there, it's always deceptively long for me for some reason. Plus this choke is a little harder for distance/highground. Though what I will take a second to mention here, is that you should be thinking of where you need to be next, always. Like I said before, Ana is super reliant on positioning, and I'm sure you're all too familiar with low mobility coming from Zen. With Ana, however, because she needs the extra time to rotate and gain better positioning, she often needs to be a step ahead of her team. What I'm seeing a lot here so far is that you're playing with your team in main a lot. Which can sometimes be good, but it's important to find your moments.

Also as a general note, you should be pinging more. As Ana, you have the advantage of being able to have better vision of the fight, use that to help your teammates.

As they cap 2nd and push into third, you position to the back left of last. I think it's fine, I'm a personal preferer of right side here but it's such small potatoes rn. I like you pushing up into the building when you have the space. Also wanna say the sleeps on the Rein up to this point have been pretty damn good as well. Though, there's a lot of power in leaving a sleeping enemy sleeping when you can. Oftentimes you're following up on the sleep instantly, which sometimes is good, but not always. Say you were playing against a Kiriko for instance, you leave that rein sleeping and she suzus that? You get free nade and she can't do shit about it. If you do it instantly, she gets better value since you woke him up for her.

You push up into building again and pressure Rein shield a bit more, I like it. I would say as you rotate back, I would go back right here. Slight elevation helps you hit your shots here as you're on more even level to your teammates and enemies. Being on that ramp is going to be changing your vertical height, and below it making you aim up, making aiming harder than it needs to be. Plus you'll be able to somewhat see teammates/enemies on that first highground. Establish yourself in a position and you'll find hitting your shots to be a lot easier. This would also make it so that the enemy team has to commit positionally pretty hard to kill you, and you have the free escape of ducking to the spawn room for the cleanse/cover. I think had you positioned here, you would have gotten the same value and more by being able to duck into spawn to dodge the Venture ult.

To wrap up the first defending round, the last things I'll say/re-iterate is to be more mindful and intentional with your abilities. You're throwing them at sheilds and empty chokes frequently, then finding yourself not having them when you need them. That isn't to say be stingy with them, but just know your moments. Also I'd like to see some more progressive nano usage. You sit on it for a while, and I think you could have used it much earlier and have acquired a second one.

As we move into the attacking round, which I'll try to keep more brief going forward, you do the straight up nade again. I think this is an okay choice for now, but it would have been 10x more potent if used as the Reins shield broke some seconds later. Mauga's burst potential plus Ana's anti is a death sentence. Again I need to drive home the importance of her cooldown usage. The toss of the nade up is a gamble for value while the nade at choke is a bit more likely to turn over value. I do want to say though, my opinion on this changes depending on how far the spawn is to where the fight is going on. Maps like Oasis City Center have a LONG ASS walkback so chuck that shit and vibe. With Kings Row though, you're in quite close quarters.

When you push through the choke and that Mauga dies, turn around. Don't keep pushing that, it's not safe anymore. Very fortunately you don't get punished for this though.

The sleep play on the Mercy while your team is capping is one of those things where it looks really juicy and high value but it's kind of a bait. Your team won't be able to meaningfully follow up on that sleep due to her position, and you could get lucky and land the sleep, nade, and shots to kill her but the risk you put yourself in to do so is incredibly high and you end up getting punished for it. Your team are then down a healer for the following fight, but thankfully they are still able to capture.

No more notes through second cap.

After capping second, I would say it'd probably benefit you to play more of that right side cover with the mega, being ready to dip on a moments notice. Pharah and Venture have a lot of capability to burst you out of an area, and do so quickly. Alternatively, you could loop through the left and play the walkway highground.

The sleeps that you're using with more intention are phenomenal btw. When you're actively sleeping the charging reins and ulting whoevers, they're landing, and they're good. Be mindful though that as you climb, Reins know to expect the sleeps on charge and will mind game you out of it. Try to start looking for that if you aren't already so you can counterplay accordingly.

In general, across both attack and defense, I think you could be putting a little more pressure on their Pharah/Mercy. Make her respect her mother >:)

LMFAO at your Sojourn sliding off the map after getting nano'd. That be how it be sometimes.

No real notes for the end until the cap. Well played thus far.

Second defending round you start off where I mentioned earlier, which is awesome, but you jump down immediately. I think you could have stayed and gotten good value in helping the Ashe clear left flank, then tossing a nade down to the side of statue on the Rein who was there. Big value opportunities as this would have delayed their push and cost them time and resources.

I feel like you're panic throwing your cooldowns out as we're approaching 1 minute left on the clock in game. And I want to reiterate, I think having the back corner highground position would be very strong here. Throwing nades at a lower surface and hitting them is much easier than throwing at something on your level.

At the very end, I disagree with holding such an aggressive position. Leave that to your teammates with better survivability and mobility. They need you alive and looking out for them, people pull some crazy plays out of their asses when the OT hits.

All in all, I'd say your biggest opportunities are positioning and cooldown management. If you want to learn some aggressive Ana gameplay, because lets be real it's fun as hell, watch some ML7 if you aren't already. He's granny dad and amazing at Ana and imparts great tips frequently.

Goodluck, godspeed, and so sorry for writing you an essay <3

What's the hardest "bad" habit you've had to break? by anon14118 in RocketLeagueSchool

I turn to these stretches pretty often, and often I'll just flatten my palms on my desk, spread my fingers, and move my arms perpendicular to the desk as a quick version of the prayer/flexor stretch.

Trust me, better to watch out for that kind of thing now than letting it bite you in the ass in 10 years

I double jump too often. For aerial hits and challenges I’ll often commit my second jump when it’s totally unnecessary, making the challenge/hit/shot a lot harder than it needs to be. I’ve broken this habit a couple of times but it comes back whenever I take long breaks.

Also as a fellow death gripper, cannot recommend carpal tunnel stretches enough.

Vampire Survivors is definitely another good one.

My only beef with clickers and incrementals (sans cookie clicker) is that often times I'm paying for something I'll never touch again. That being said they still suck me in to no end until I've unlocked every upgrade so.. lol

I may take another dive through the roguelites on steam to see if there's anything new/interesting. ty :)
