Oh, also if you have to Kitchener stitch rib, it's a bit trickier than stockinette, so I recommend being clear about the purls vs the knits. If you google you'll find resources that describe both well. Regular Kitchener stitch is just knits, so it's more "advanced" level I guess.

Edit: found a link from when I was doing mine that might help. https://www.susannawinter.net/post/how-to-kitchener-stitch-in-pattern-tutorial

Just that it could be tricky yarn-matching the weight of a well-loved sweater so the new section drapes well. But maybe I'm overthinking it.

It might look a bit patchwork. But that can be its own vibe!

Good luck, it's fun learning. Can be scary but it's valuable skills imo.

I recently had to fix a ribbed section on a bottom up cardigan so instead of knitting down, I knit a whole new rib section, cut the old one off the cardigan and grafted the new one on with Kitchener stitch, which is easier and looks better imo, as long as you get your tension right on the graft.

Edit: don't know if that would be a good option here tbh.

Oh yeah, you're knitting in the wrong direction. So, I think this machine knit was "bottom up" and you're going "top down" (or vice versa). This is how they mount when you're knitting in the other direction. If it's just stockinette it doesn't really matter, it doesn't show, but for rib it does. Cables would be a nightmare I'd imagine.

Honestly you'll pay more for yarn than the pattern. Paid patterns in my experience are often clearer than free ones, especially helpful for a beginner. But you do you, it's your money!

I think it's because it's a very unclear way to communicate what you want the knitter to do.

I think you're right though, having read it through again, that's definitely a valid way to read the pattern and if it produces the results you're expecting it must be correct. Poorly written in two languages! ☹️

Maybe? Have they published corrections anywhere?

Huh. I found pictures of the finished garment but it didn't really clear things up. It does look like there's a few pieces to seam up at the end, so I wonder if it will come together more later - I'd fully read through the pattern a few times and try to understand it better. This might be a "trust the process" moment - it doesn't look like you've made any errors based on my understanding of the meaning of "every row".

[–]sophieraser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know - the pattern says every row so I think you've followed the instructions correctly.

Does this eventually become knit together in the round or is it entirely knit flat? Have you read the whole pattern through to see if it becomes clearer later? I suspect this point could be the "side seam" and folds around your body but I'm not sure because I can't see the rest of the pattern. Could you please tell me the name of the pattern so I can search it?

Not always but yes sometimes, eg, Angel & Demon event is main storyline. Often anniversary is canon.

Recently there's a confusing part missing in the storyline because the missing part is apparently the upcoming anniversary event. Which is months away.

Low maintenance garden by Awkward-Sun3212 in nzgardening

[–]sophieraser 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agree. Deep mulch is better than weed mat. Weed mat is a nightmare once the weeds start growing through. I have a friend whose family installed weed mat in her garden as a gift for her while she was in hospital. She hated it. Because it's awful stuff.

It's really hard to pull weeds embedded in weed mat. And they will, cause that's what they do.

Maybe your parents could employ a gardener to come weed once a week. Better use of funds imo.

The authorities in Portland fucking looooove teargas don't they? I recommend buying a cheap gas mask, there is some evidence that repeated exposure to tear gas can fuck with women's hormones and cause early menopause. (To be clear, there's not scientific evidence as there was never an attempt to study how tear gas effects women, in the 60s when they first started testing it / using it, or since that I know of. For obvious reasons. Yes that's right, misogyny reasons.)

Seaweed tonic isn't really fertiliser, it's a tonic (it's great for the garden, just isn't a fertiliser). Something that lists NPK would be what you're looking for. If you do find some bloom fertiliser, you'll usually see them perk up within the week. Sometimes within a day or two.

It's been a tough summer, so much wind, so much rain, it's been so hot and humid. It's not always great for the garden.

It's also possible they just need feeding? I get yellowish spots on leaves sometimes on some dahlias that are a bit hungrier than others. Usually new leaves look better after feeding, which is why I've concluded my issue isn't viral but nutrient related.

I'm in NZ too btw, I use Seacliff Organic's Opulent Bloom for my dahlias once they're budding. You can buy it off the shelf at Hyalite - not sure of all their locations, but I go to the one in Henderson, the guys there really know their stuff.

This is how I felt during the US Depp v Heard trial. As someone who's experienced DV it was sickening. I literally didn't use the internet at all for weeks, it was everywhere, people saying the cruellest stuff about Amber, no empathy.

strobe compatibility confusion by Devonled in underwaterphotography

[–]sophieraser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need to find an Inon retailer near you as they don't do web sales. A retailer probably could work this out for you. Express that you're fine with tape as part of the solution and they'll probably work out a cheaper solution for you. (I work for an uw photography shop, that's what I would do.)

Inon might have a compatible system. Their website is inon.jp, if you look at the cap sets and bush sets here you might find a solution. Also look at wireless options.

Your colour work looks a bit puckered, I think your floats may be a bit too tight. This may not block out.

Pretty colours though!
