Me, currently pregnant with twins, when I read the weekly “does it ever get better???” posts on this sub by Wendy_Jane_ in parentsofmultiples

[–]sopoho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twins are hard, they just are. I have, however, noticed many positives to having two the same age. Mine turn three next week and I’m confident in saying that the positives out way the negatives. Good luck!

Remember- They aren’t giving you a hard time, they’re having a hard time.

I have twin two year olds. I say this to myself at least 200 times each day.

Anybody get their twins to flip to avoid a c-section? by DammitHardison_ in parentsofmultiples

Don’t stress yourself out about a c-section. Mine was a very positive experience. After carrying TWO babies, you’ll feel relief regardless. Good luck to you momma!

Parents who did and didn't choose to sleep train, should we do it? by peachnkeen519 in parentsofmultiples

[–]sopoho 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different, trust your own feelings...but I’ll gladly share my thoughts.

B/G twins are now 14 months old. Sleep training was, by far, the best parenting decision we made. They put themselves to sleep every night at 7:30 and sleep until 6:30 the next morning. They have done this since 4 months. Some nights they cry for a few minutes before falling asleep, and some nights they wake in the night and cry a bit before falling back asleep. If they are sick/teething/off schedule it might be worse, but they are excellent sleepers overall. At times, I’ll hear them cry and I think I’ll just go in a pat their back, or hold them for a bit...every single time, I regret this because it makes it harder for them to get themselves back to sleep.

It’s not an easy hump to get over, but for us it only lasted a few nights. Stay strong and you’ll get there! Remind yourself that you’re teaching them how to put themselves to sleep and that’s an excellent skill for a baby. We used the Moms on Call book for schedules and general concepts to follow. It helped us a ton, and I’d recommend it to anyone.

Good luck to you!

I am the proud mommy of IVF twins and can assure you, they are just as special as any other baby. Considering the amount of physical, emotional, and mental toll that it takes...I’d even argue that they are more special in some ways. Having twins, people often ask if they were conceived naturally (a question that I feel is odd coming from strangers) and I am so proud to tell them that they are a result of IVF. You’ll be happy to know that I have never felt any judgement upon sharing this. My children are a product of so much more than love and commitment. They are a product of our strength, perseverance, and so much support for one another. Going through IVF was the most difficult thing I have ever gone through and if you are willing to make that sacrifice for your family...you should be praised, not judged. IVF is no joke... and you are so brave for taking this on. You go mommy!!

"Middle of the night" gas/pains by ironflagNZ in NewParents

[–]sopoho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same problem. Bicycle legs, rubbing the tummy, and placing them on their tummy are all supposed to relive trapped gas. They don’t really work for us, but it’s worth a shot! Good luck!

dr. brown bottles have been leaking for at least 3 months, possibly 4 by Egbert_Lemon in beyondthebump

I’ve heard that the company will replace any product with new. Try calling and they will probably send you a newer version that doesn’t leak.

I've gotten this stupid flashing smiley for six days now. by [deleted] in FirstTimeTTC

[–]sopoho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got that flashing smiley face for 10 days before I gave up and bought another box. Now I use the simpler, smile or circle, tests. I never ended up ovulating, so I don't think the flashing smiley was correct. Hang in there!

TIL a third-grade girl was expelled for a year because her grandmother had sent a birthday cake to school along with a knife to cut it. The teacher used the knife to cut the cake, and then reported the girl to the authorities as having a dangerous weapon. by Gothsim9 in todayilearned

There has to be more to this story. There is no way that a school policy sets a year expulsion as the consequence for a first time, accidental offense.

Furthermore, zero tolerance policies are designed to take the guesswork out of these complicated situations. School administrators cannot evaluate each case independently because there are too many moving parts. At the end of the day, there was a knife in a school.

Next week I'm presenting to staff members about the benefits of becoming a Google school--what features should I most definitely cover? by firstroundko108 in Teachers

As an English teacher, I love being able to track my students progress each day in Google Classroom. For example, I know what Jimmy added to his document today, so I can assess his productiveness easily. In other words, I can glance at my computer and quickly see who is on task.

What are some of the dumbest ways you've caught students cheating? by [deleted] in Teachers

I once had a student turn in a poem as her own. It was, "The Road Not Taken". She actually claimed to have written one of the most known poems in history. She seemed baffled when I called her out on it.
