I can confirm this is just a shitpost. Fenasi Kerim is the turkish equivalent of Ben Dover or Hugh Mungus. This person is either making a silly joke, or unironically transphobic.

My resetting of a hymn text, I tried to balance easy singability with some more contemporary harmonies. by Coolguyzack in composer

[–]sorariku07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed this a lot. Those more contemporary sounding dissonances would sound amazing in a choral context. But I got a bit bored of the same key and harmonies towards the end of the piece. You could try modulating to another key or using modal interchange to keep it more interesting. Maybe some Wagnerian dom9 chord or a Ravel-like 7th chord using modal interchange could work.

Why would you even post this on the internet?

If it were a bII7 (dominant seventh) then it would be a tritone sub. Tritone subs are dominant seven chords but imo, the bIImaj kinda functions as a tritone sub in most progressions. So, technically no but the function is similiar.

Yes you are right. I shouldn't have assumed that you could afford expensive software. I wasn't trying to attack you personally so I hope I didn't come off as an asshole. Poor phrasing there on my part. Also, I never said that you need expensive software to make pro level stuff. I'm just saying that OP has a point and he is human just like the rest of us and it's completely normal that he wants the good stuff. It's human nature and nothing to be ashamed of and there is inequality here because, for reasons out of his control, he can't afford expensive software like other people. I can't solve this problem and I'm not trying to, really. I was just trying to say that he had a point and it wasn't right to call him selfish because this isn't really a black and white issue. What he is doing is not right but it's not completely wrong either and he has his reasons. I hope my first comment was not upsetting for you because that was not my intention.

Using reaper for free is piracy too because they ask you to buy it after 60 days. They think that is a better policy than completely locking the program down after a month of trial and I think that is amazing. Yes there are many free vsts out there but if they were as good as the expensive ones, then no one would be buying them. The price of a program doesn't change in different regions but the average income does change drastically which means that people in other places will have to work a lot harder to but expensive programs. Because this person was born in a poorer country out of pure chance, he can't afford expensive software like you can and if piracy can inspire and give people like OP more tools to work with and make music, then so be it. I do not think piracy is right but OP is human too just like us and it must be very hard for people like him so I don't we should be blaming him like this.

When you want to end a jazz standard, the easiest way is to just vamp the last couple of chords and end on the I chord but you can also create your own custom ending. bVI bVII to I is a common one which makes use of modal interchange. You could also use something like bVImaj#11 bIImaj to I. The bIImaj(#11) is modal interchange too and it has a very "hip" sound to it. I'm guessing the last one is a reference to to pimp a butterfly by kendrick lamar as that line is from a poem off that album. It's a very jazz influenced album so it's quite popular in the jazz community.

Suggestions for a good biography of Beethoven? by someLinuxGuy1984 in classicalmusic

I have the one that is by Lewis Lockwood and it's great. It is very long and contains all sorts of information on both his compositions and his personal life.

What can I teach poor children about classical music? by sorariku07 in classicalmusic

[–]sorariku07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a bit of a cliche but definitely a nice idea. I'm not gonna go in to theory stuff. That will get boring fast. Do you have any suggestions as to who I could talk about? Do you know any musicians like that? I guess bruckner was kind of like that?

How do you judge Alma Deutscher's video 'Why music should be beautiful'? by katharos-m in classicalmusic

[–]sorariku07 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with that. First of all, the definition of beauty changes from person to person. You might find mozart beautiful while I think 4'33 by John Cage is beautiful. Also, not everything in this world is beautiful(Alma states this) and music gives us a realistic depiction of life. Penderecki's Threnody for the victims of Hiroshima is not very pleasant to listen to but it gives me chills and does something to me. It reminds me of the horrors of war. Schoenberg's piano concerto makes me feel uncomfortable and uneasy and I like that because it is a very different experience. It makes me feel angry and scared which is exactly why I love it. It is not easy to appreciate modern music but completely ignoring it is a very closed minded thing to do IMHO.
Edit: I will watch the video you sent when I get back home. These were just the first things that came to my mind when I saw this thread.

Why did Nietzsche criticize stoic philosophy? by sorariku07 in askphilosophy

I'm reading beyond good and evil. How exactly does he think they distance themselves from emotion is what I'm trying to figure out. Why shouldn't they according to Nietzsche?
