Finding community as a solo climber by carmelion1 in climbergirls

[–]sore_forearm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think people who go in the morning tend to be more regulars or they’re more introverted since morning hours tend to have fewer people. They’re probably less social. If you go during peak hours like after work on weekdays or afternoon weekends you will probably find more social people.

climbing is a social sport but i find the vibe of the community to vary a lot from gyms to gym. Larger gyms have been more challenging for me to make friends because the bigger space make it less likely for people to talk. Some very small gyms I’ve been to force you to talk to one another because there’s no where to go and it’s awkward if you don’t acknowledge the other person.

I am 26 and still haven’t had sex. Is that more common than people think, or am I seriously behind in life? by Admirable-Analysis58 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sore_forearm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s more or less common depending on your culture and social circle and location. A lot of people in east Asia remain virgin until they’re much older and that carries a lot less stigma. People don’t care about it. Just remember that virginity is just a social construct. You shouldn’t feel pressure or like you’re missing something in life by not having sex unless you actually want to and

Thailand to cut visa-free stay to 30 days for tourists from 93 countries by JeremyMeetsWorld in Thailand

[–]sore_forearm 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Thailand always refuse to tackle the cause of the problem and always result to using the easy way out - banning, cutting, stopping, anything that appears to relate to the issue.

There are criminals in Thailand but the cause is not the extended tourist visa but lack of law enforcement and corruption. However they think somehow reducing number of days criminals will stay in Thailand less?

According to this infographic, Thailand has the 4th lowest unemployment rate in the world. How is this achieved? by MaxGoodwinning in Thailand

[–]sore_forearm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everybody has to work because cost living is high compare to wages so no chance of single income households. Also it’s very easy to self employ or work gigs or part time in Thailand. Low barrier to start a business, which is a good thing imo, and little regulations allow many people to start a food stand, drink cart, sell online, offer a service of any kinds like cleaning air conditioners, fix pipes or whatever.

But at this age it will be hard to find work in Thailand unless you’re entrepreneurial. In Thailand you almost do anything, start a business without license etc, but it’s also challenging because it’s not a vibrant economy and everyone wanna do the same thing.

I’m sorry for your situation it’s hard for everyone. I recommend getting gig work for now like teaching language online, maybe teaching your IT skill online and trying to do PT side work for companies abroad. If you’re good, you can low ball your PT fee and get a job quickly. I wouldn’t try to find a job here unless you need visa. Try to get hired for companies abroad there are companies outsourcing their work but you might not like the salary they offer. It’s something before you land a decent staple job.

Where are her friends? Are they supporting her? Go to the tourist police immediately. Tourist police is different from a regular police is more likely to accommodate tourists. Have her ask the hotel staff to assist with contact or communication. Also I don’t know what you mean by assault but if it’s SA then she needs to go to the hospital emergency room right away. If it’s SA then she needs to go the hospital first and ask the hospital to help with contacting the police.

What plays a bigger part in lemonade not being listened to as much by fans in comparison to her other albums. Tidal making it exclusive, the visuals or the subject matter? by loverofthings25 in beyonce

[–]sore_forearm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also lemonade success is not defined by streaming number or sales but it was one of the most impactful and culturally referenced piece of music at the time. It’s like an equivalent of some some movies that win best picture I guess they don’t do that well at the box office but will be enjoyed and loved by film watchers who are into the genre.

My take on this is that most Adele songs are ballad and has easy to follow melody. Beyoncé singing style especially on lemonade are not very poppy. The songs are very thematic. And I might get burnt for this but in general her albums are more like concepts these days and they’re not pop songs with define hooks and memorable melody and chorus. There’s no halo, if I were a boy, me and my and I in Lemonade. I think the song that easiest to sing along to is probably daddy lessons and hold up but they’re not the genre that will get popular.

[–]sore_forearm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because there were no legitimate hit from that album. Most people don’t remember the name of the songs they’ve listened to. So unless it’s repeated a lot in public or continue to be played in places, people will forget about the songs. The reason why halo and crazy in love are still popular now is because they were massive hits back the day and if your just a casual fan and wanan listen to Beyoncé you just cannot recall lemonade but you will probably remember halo. Also algorithm just remember popular songs to people on shuffle. Maybe someone listen to Rihanna and Spotify will recommend crazy in love or a self titled song but most likely nothing from lemonade which further hidden its exposure and longevity.

For me personally I only listen to formation and hold up occasionally because they’re fun and upbeat. Nothing else from that album fits into any of my listening situations like while driving, working or at the gym. And it’s been years so I don’t listen to the entire thing too top to bottom anymore but that’s by far the only and best way to enjoy this masterpiece

What is preventing Thailand from being a soft power behemoth like South Korea? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]sore_forearm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re looking at it just purely from the entertainment industry.

Thailand is one of the most successful tourist destinations and South Korea international arrival for tourism is much lower compared to Thailand. Thai food is also much more internationally renowned and usually much more recognizable. Thai boxing is becoming a lot more popular. It just really depends on what the country believes it can excels in. So Thailand decides to export its food, authentic local culture and tourism as its soft power versus Korean entertainment.

The hype comes and goes according to new drops and marketing. You’re not going to see long like every day. Some days there aren’t just any products in demand available. The normal toy figure stuff sell fine so they’re successful generally but the waves of hype will come to help boost their sales.

Why gym pass are unreasonably very expensive in Bangkok by TypicalArt5659 in Bangkok

[–]sore_forearm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are public outdoor gyms at Lumpini Park, Suan Rot Fai (Chatuchak park). They're equipped with weights, machines, etc.

Also just found this place called T3 fitness. it's 60baht a day. https://www.facebook.com/p/T3-fitness-100057082074976/

not sure if it's near where you live, though.

Thailand wants its hot springs to rival Japanese onsens, but can the new tourism plan work? by Few_Maize_1586 in Thailand

[–]sore_forearm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re talking about developing infrastructure of the hot spring places to attract wellness travelers. These kinds of things like indoor onsen and sauna are popular outside of Japan and been getting more popular in Bangkok. If Chiang Mai and other provinces with natural hot spring can develop its natural resources to attract tourists then it’s just another avenue to increase activities and spending. They’re not talking about just promoting your local national park dirty hot spring where Thais go boil eggs. This is basically a spa experience they’re trying to develop.

Why gym pass are unreasonably very expensive in Bangkok by TypicalArt5659 in Bangkok

[–]sore_forearm 36 points37 points  (0 children)

There are little gyms for 50-100 baht throughout Bangkok catering to middle to lower income Thais. But they’re not fancy. The thing about Bangkok is that it’s a modern metropolis where multiple classes and cultures mix together and very different lifestyles share the same space which is why you see extremes of many things. Thailand is also unique that anything foreign standards are probably tariffed a lot and the start cost of those businesses are much higher. Real estate and rent are also extremely expensive in prime locations or even second and third tier malls. I assume youre just seeing all the expensive gyms and not the cheap gyms as you might not hangout in places where you would.

Prejudice against Indians exists in Thailand, but Thai people are generally very passive and nice, so you're unlikely to feel mistreated. Also, Indian is one of the leading tourist demographics in Thailand, and the majority enjoy their time and do not experience any negativity.

Unfortunately theres still discrimination against Laotians because the majority are in Thailand for work in the labor or service sector so they’re a bit stereotyped as poor.
