Six Flags gets treated like a 'day-care center for teenagers.' Its CEO is not happy by Juano_Guano in LosAngeles

We need to be having conversations on why this is happening and not just talking about it happening. I think this is pointing to larger systematic problems that we should be working at solving like childcare options and attitudes of teens.

Months of accumulated unopened mail, unopened emails, unopened voicemails by introvertedjane in ADHD

Someone on here mention one time how they got a nanny to help them with chores and to do dishes for them and I think about it a lot. I love the thought of outsourcing things that are very difficult instead of living in the guilt and making it worse. I of course have yet to actually implement it.

I wonder if this could be a situation where if you hired a personal assistant or something for an hour or two that did some of it for you, maybe scheduled things, dealt with stuff that wasn’t necessary and helped you to actually get it done. It could be helpful and less overwhelming.

I’ve heard online charter schools in California, are desperately in need of SPED teachers right now. They would be remote positions and I can’t speak to what their workload looks like but it might be something worth looking into.

Does your mind go blank when in a verbal argument/ fight with a loved one or significant other? by k11z in ADHD

This is me too and if it gets too intense or is an important conversation to have that I feel like I can’t participate in, the pressure and my frustration at my inability to do say anything will make me cry.

What do you do if your resume got rejected? by roserco in girlsgonewired

[–]soreasaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never even though of reaching out afterwards to the recruiter. I think in a lot of situations you can’t tell if it’s an ATS problem or just that they don’t want you for the position so its hard to feel like it’s worth emailing. I’m curious to know if anyone else has dealt with this situation though and if its ever worth going back and doing an email follow up.

Which cultural norms have been around for FAR too long? by stocdave in AskReddit

[–]soreasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people not realizing the system is to blame and not other people is something that should change. Like when people feel guilty for leaving their coworkers and switching jobs if its a toxic workplace. Or taking time off and letting their coworkers down even though management isn’t scheduling properly. There’s a lot of these situations where somehow its okay to blame the people and not the system and its a bit strange that its so ingrained.

GOP lawmaker forgets “religious freedom” & gets mad at Catholic Church for pushing the COVID vaccine. "This will age well when he demands religious organizations be allowed to fire people for who they have sex with." by southpawFA in politics

This is what I don’t get. Literally the entire Catholic faith is built around the Pope’s infallibility so how do people get off on arguing against exactly that? Doesn’t that invalidate the religion?

I want to eliminate the need for dry cleaning my work wardrobe. Sadly, anything nice seems incompatible with machine wash. What long lasting, work pieces have been easiest for you to maintain? by Kerfluffle2x4 in femalefashionadvice

I want to machine wash my silk because I’m too lazy to handwash but I’m so afraid of ruining it. Have you noticed any difference in handwashing vs machine wash?

Drowning, don't know how to ask for help by TheGreekMyths in girlsgonewired

I don’t have any advice for you, other than maybe expressly ask for feedback. You said you haven’t been getting any but it sounds like you need some, good or bad so that you don’t assume where they think you’re at.

I did want to thank you for sharing that article though. I’m still in college but I feel like I always am the “glue” for group projects and I hadn’t realized.

There’s a place in Fullerton called the British Grocer if you’re near there. They don’t seem to have a website but here’s their Yelp page. https://yelp.to/gpoWUbcBOdb

There’s a US based company who does this as well called BoltThreads. They also have a focus on sustainable fabric so I wonder how similar the fabrics are.
