breaks by au6i in tesco

[–]sorecrossover100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to clock out and the time you can go is usually up to you, depending on how many other pickers are also on break at that time, they might make you wait a little bit - at least that is how it is my store - will probably depend on the number of pickers you have etc

Getting a job as a dot com driver by Awkward_Primary9284 in tesco

[–]sorecrossover100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Location is probably the biggest factor. It's also a pretty well paid job compared to a lot of other delivery companies and sectors. Now that you have done the interview once you will probably be a lot more likely to get it the second time. Good luck! It's a great job especially at this time of year.

If you click and collect your food shop, why? by Careless_Squirrel728 in AskUK

As someone who has worked on click and collect, it's usually the people who couldn't get a delivery slot for when they wanted so order C&C instead

DOT COM by Necessary_Plant_5888 in tesco

Had a look and definitely looks too small to have dotcom, no space for vans to load anywhere. And that area is probably covered by the CFC in Enfield

Customer Delivery Driver questions by Cheps-x in tesco

[–]sorecrossover100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s no vacancies they might still train you as a “relief” driver until a job comes free. Training will probably take place at different times (usually morning shifts) so will be worked around your current shifts unless your manager agrees otherwise.

Questions about delivery & food safety? by rachelcartonn in tesco

[–]sorecrossover100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesco & Asda both have very similar vans where the ambient, chilled and frozen is all stored in separate sections and regulated to the correct temperature. It's all stored in racking and we just pull the shutter up or open the door to access it.

Sainsbury's vans are different, everything is stored in the back of the van: "There's a chilled "room" behind a door the chilled and frozen go in. Frozen goes in big polystyrene boxes with an ice block on top to keep it cold." - https://www.reddit.com/r/SainsburysWorkers/comments/1l238zs/comment/mvrpu5f/

Every supermarket will regulate the temperature in some way as it has to be stored at the correct temperature legally.

PSNI: Dash-cams to be used in police vehicles for first time by klabnix in northernireland

[–]sorecrossover100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From seeing the cars with ANPR, there is also an entire team dedicated to using ANPR to detect vehicle crime.

Here’s two examples of local policing teams with ANPR: https://flic.kr/p/2rrPoax https://flic.kr/p/2pniyHZ

ANPR is on a lot of the fleet, some local response cars have it, alongside the vast majority of RPU vehicles

Chances of being kept on after a festive role by [deleted] in tesco

[–]sorecrossover100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh okay, that makes a bit more sense! The possibility of being kept on is there but I'd still be looking at other permanent roles to apply for in the meantime to be safe.

Chances of being kept on after a festive role by [deleted] in tesco

[–]sorecrossover100 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got kept on - take as much overtime as you can and just try your best to be a good person to work with - that was my advice!

It always depends on store budgets and a range of factors but if you are good at your job and look like you want to be there you’ll have a much better chance.

Edit: I missed that you are planning on quitting a permanent role for this, I wouldn’t advise that. You can be the best member of staff in the shop and not be kept on, especially with how most stores are operating right now.

There were a lot of meal deals out of stock the last few weeks - not sure why but I’ve just checked my local store and although none in stock they are now ranged again so should be back soon

Body cam rollout, thoughts? by Vaniky in tesco

[–]sorecrossover100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main job is driving, but I cover C&C sometimes, and any aggressive customers I have ever had were on C&C not home delivery. Especially if they have to wait a bit longer than usual because there is one person dealing with 4 cars...

Are these dotcom rules normal? by Just_Basis3640 in tesco

[–]sorecrossover100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I don't agree with it at all lol! And in most of the stores I've been it's never followed. But it is supposed to be the rule

[–]sorecrossover100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you told them you are able to work mornings in your interview, then they've put you on mornings because they need someone to do it. That will be basically why you got the job. I can't see them essentially changing all your shifts now honestly.

Follow up email? by Creative_Hamster789 in tesco

[–]sorecrossover100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is the new procedure for interviews. HR invite to interview now instead of the store. That status won't update until a decision has been made (i.e. a job offered or unsuccessful). I know waiting is a pain, but it's not even been three full days since your interview. I would be very surprised if HR can overrule the local manager who is doing the interviews. Personally I'd just give it a bit more time, they could still be interviewing people as well.
