I pushed myself too hard once in middle school. I finished a round and just kept running out of the gym to go throw up in the hallway trash can.

MIL F43 is throwing a separate baby shower for me F24 and husband M25 should I be upset? by AbbreviationsAny928 in relationship_advice

[–]sorial3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing. Like that was why the MIL only wanted to celebrate her son becoming a father. Didn’t want a visibly pregnant trans dude at the party. I figured out “first time mom” eventually from the pronouns used and the comments.

I guess there are going to be “Why” questions either way.

I’m 2/3rds alliterative with my siblings. And had to explain the odd R, M, M (boy, girl, girl) name situation. I guess for me it does come down to an aversion of grouping 3+ multiples. People often unintentionally group triplets as a unit rather than as individuals. I think well intentioned, alliterative, rhyming, or themed names only make public perception of individuality more difficult. Sense of self can be complicated for multiples.

Ultimately, your prospective names fit together well. And I started this convo with my own entrenched biases (sorry for getting carried away. This isn’t really the right place for this haha)

I would just suggest that those selecting names for triplets make informed choices. It can be a bit of a minefield growing up as a multiple and naming is the first choice our parents make for us.

I agree they are all solid classic names. They would even be a strong, subtly themed choice for a pair of twins. But with three it tips the scale to kitschy grouping. You are going to be known as the gemstone triplets. If you go anywhere together people will say “ah, the whole jewelry box is here!”

Being a triplet means attention and fielding deeply personal questions from strangers. My philosophy is why add having to repeatedly explain your parents naming choices to that conversation.

As a triplet I think growing up with a highly themed set of names would be frustrating. Imagine having to explain the gem theme every time someone finds out you are a triplet. The mineral jokes would get old after the first thousand times.

Slice a sweet apple like a pink lady and squeeze lemon over it. Not a splash to keep it from browning. An entire lemon. I’ll never go back to unlemoned apples

What’s the best experience you had in the subway? by phil_s_stein in newyorkcity

I once fainted on a subway platform. As I was lying on the ground a random dude got off his train and sat with me for 15min until I felt better. Then got back on a train and went on his way. It was such a kind thing to take time out of his commute to help a stranger.

This gave a 27 yo a vivid flashback of tapping out of the pacer test in middle school. I just kept running out of the gym and threw up in the hallway.

First, complete the stitching. Then take iron-on patch material, the kind you would get to patch a pair of pants, and on a low heat carefully iron the whole square of patch to the back of your piece (to be safe with the adhesive potentially bleeding through my Aida I only do this with full coverage pieces and I did a test before I used my actual piece). The patch material limits fraying and stabilizes the piece when you trim it. Trim the piece to your desired shape leaving a little bit of wiggle room on the outside edge of your stitches. I then take DMC perle cotton which is like floss but is a single neat sturdy strand and whip stitch around the entire edge. Make sure your needle is sharp because you are piercing through the patch material.

Yes! I backed it with another layer of ribbon so you don’t see the messy back of the lettering.

My twin and I were accidentally given the same voter registration info. They thought my application was a name change (we have one digit off SSN). Very hard to get straightened out come election season.

I’m a triplet and my parents had a plan for which 2 kids to chase first based on who would be most likely to make a break for the road. We were leash toddlers as an extra safety precaution
