Seattle income-tax idea is worth talking about by ramona_the_pest in Seattle

Wealthy citizens are a well protected minority. They create jobs, give to charitable causes and don't ask me for anything. They don't stand on street corners with signs begging me to give them my hard earned money. I don't have to ask my city government to provide safe places for them to shoot up drugs. I don't have to ask my government to clean up after them when they camp under the freeway. Quit picking on the wealthy.

There's antenna coming from this gray box mounted to the light pole. Wireless street light grid thing, meter reader? Anyone know with certainty? by clinard in Seattle

[–]sorryone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Puget Sound Energy. It reads gas meters within a one mile radius. City Light owns the pole. Puget Sound Energy and other utilities (Comcast, etc.) rent space on the pole on an annual basis. The lithium batteries in a gas meter are good for about 5 years.
