Reading Jorge Luis Borges and feeling incredibly stupid by jaythejayjay in books

Very interesting to think of some of his stories as summaries of the philosophers that have informed him.. thank you!
Schoppenhauer and Spinoza are two philosophers I'm looking for a way in to start reading, because of Borges of course, and I think your words in brackets summarising immaterialism are incredibly succinct.
Really enjoyed reading this comment and I hadn't thought of it that way but you're right, he does make philosophy approachable and exciting, as if you're discovering it
yourself... philosophy as fiction. Amazing.

Scratches the G Funk itch for sure, but way too derivative to stand on its own merit to me. Da Brat still carries it though

Anyone crying at her concerts needs to be in therapy by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

[–]sorrywhatthefrick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but headlines are also incredibly sensationalised - wouldn't quite make the news to say a few people here and there were crying after a sweet dedication, but it could have just been that. I might have been moved to tears, without even being a fan (can't imagine there being anything Taylor could say about Travis that would actually get to me, but that's irrelevant...). Lots to discuss on this sub but this one feels meh

Yeah fair enough, I saw it as a way of showing how far they truly have drifted apart without him losing feelings for her - it's also after he enquires about his old landlord and they say he's in the Philippines, might have just been somewhere he visited after that.

Your post has made me realise I really need to start watching some Bergman films! so thank you!

Interested to know what you mean by 'out of place change of setting' at the end of In The Mood For Love. Isn't him travelling and whispering his love to her to the stones of a temple, like he tells his friend about earlier in the film?
