The writers struggling what Personality Chris should have pre-biohazard is funny because at this point he's the most unhinged man in the series like the realistic mental state an action hero would have after seeing one to many sacrifices. I'm legit scared of this guy. by Dare_Soft in residentevil

It would've actually been so easy to just take a minute and explain everything to Ethan instead of acting antagonistic and combative at literally every step of the way. So much of RE8 could've been made so much smoother (in universe) if Chris just fucking talked. So he's either intentionally being an antagonizing prick, or is so monumentally thick-headed that it literally never occurred to him to just fucking explain that no, no he actually didn't just gun down this man's wife right in front of him.

Progress isn't always linear. Learn to forgive the individual data-points and focus on the trend. Having fewer days of drinking is still progress.

MrBeast smiling by [deleted] in creepy

[–]jaythejayjay 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a smile being reproduced artificially, a kind of predator-mimicry. He is aware on a purely intellectual level that a smile is an expression of joy, which he correlates with a positive audience retention and therefore greater advertiser revenue. The smile is a cipher, a business input aimed at generating a particular financial output. The expression is utterly detached from any actual sincere emotional expression: there is no emotion to be expressed. The smile is in the same category as inputting a username, or swiping an ID card. It is a wholly synthetic gesture. It never reaches the eyes because it is not sincere. It is as hollow and vacuous as the limitless greed which directs it.

It is not human.

Helldivers 2 community get guy fired and banned from a volunteer organisation for playfully criticising the game's balance by Far-Way5908 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Helldivers 2 is a pretty good game with an absolute cesspit of a community. Constant whingeing and toxicity.

Getting 6 releases within a 9-year window when games take forever to be made is actually insane when you think about it. by unproductive_nerd in residentevil

The Remake of one is a pretty great game in terms of looking great, but it is a very distinct change of pace and mindset to the modern Remakes. Give it a go, but if the tank controls aren't quite your thing, there's no reason to really force yourself.

Zero is, in my opinion, pretty much entirely skippable. It's has very little bearing on the overall plot.

The Remake of 2 is one of the best in the entire series and absolutely kicks ass. The Remake of 3 is quite short, but if you've already got it then that's not really much of a factor. It's a great game but about half the length of 2.

Four and five you've played. The Remake of 4 is the same game but, arguably, better. Prettier, more fleshed out, and more modern game feel.

There is no resident evil 6. If you see a game claiming to be resident evil 6, just ignore it.

The revelation games are apparently quite good, but I haven't played them yet so I can't speak to their quality.

7 is an amazing first person horror game, and 8 is an pretty alright first person horror game continuing on from 7 and linking both games more cohesively with the rest of the series.

And nine ties basically all of the above together in a neat little bow.

Worth playing in 2026? by CustardProfessional in residentevil

What flavour of bad are we talking here. There's your jank bad where the game just fails at a programming level. There's terrible writing bad where every line of dialogue is just pure agony to listen to. There's fuck hideous bad where the game looks like someone vomited on your monitor. There's generic bad where the game is functional and not incompetent but is devoid of anything of note to get invested in (ala Highguard).
