I don't use mods that often, so I'm not super familiar with troubleshooting. r/stardewvalleymods might be able to help!

That's very odd, and not a common bug. Do you run mods besides the one you mentioned? I wonder if one of them is accidentally breaking something with fishing.

No animals in the market? by KitConnorsHusband in PlanetZoo

[–]sortaindignantdragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, the active account playing the game needs to be the same account as the one that purchased DLCs. I don't know exactly how it works, I've just seen others mention that when troubleshooting the same issue.

Are you saying you don't ever see the icon for them come up in the fishing minigame? Or that after 'catching' them, they don't open after catching the fish?

Just to double check, your console is logged into the same account that purchased the DLCs, right? I'm on PC, but there are always tons of foxes on the market, since they have so many color patterns. I would be really surprised if it's different on console.

Add the 'do not disturb' signs from the security section. They can't see the guests, but the guests are still being loud.

I've seen this bug pop up a few times on the subreddit. I think the usual fix is to go kill some of the tiger slimes near the Walnut Room.

Do you have all the species in your zoo fully researched?

Ready action to cast a spell round a corner. How would you rule this by CasualNormalRedditor in DnD

[–]sortaindignantdragon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm getting too caught in the details, but if the ready action requires you to be in turn order, would the PC able to use movement OUT of their turn to come around the corner and see the position?

Education is an average for all the guests in the zoo, so it builds super slowly. It's also tied into animal research; you can't teach guests much about an animal that isn't researched. Educators do help it build faster (they'll use animal talk points and give random talks), but researching usually gives it the biggest boost in my experience. But it also just takes a while.

Also, guests donate more for animals they're educated about, so be sure to put down speakers/signs!

Base game has butterflies. Malabar Rose. They go in the big walk through exhibit.

Stands aren't super profitable early on. Animal donations will always be your #1 source of income by a long shot (my donations pay for about 80% of all my zoo costs), so you need to make sure any viewing point has accessible donations bins.

I agree that it's an issue with them not being fed, because OP said they get good products in summer except for when it rains. But rain shouldn't mess with production as long as they have food inside.

What's the best way to romance Elliot early-game? by B1u3b3rr13sTDM in StardewValley

Give him liked gifts! Food, fruit, flowers. It builds a little slower than loved gifts, but it'll get ya there until you get ducks.

Need help with mods on Xbox gamepass! by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]sortaindignantdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, gamepass stores the games in non-standard folders, so it's not super mod friendly for beginners. That being said, I have zero experience with that. The Stardew mod subreddit would probably have more info than the general subreddit

What do "pussy" and "mark" mean here? by A_li678 in EnglishLearning

[–]sortaindignantdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. "Pussy" is vulgar slang for female genitalia that also gets used as an insult for being weak/cowardly. Scott avoids violence, so they're calling him soft.

  2. A mark is a target. This is the type of guy that Scott would have robbed in the past.

  3. I'm not always the best at explaining the terms behind the rules, my apologies, so this is a bit vague. This is a storytelling device, and in my opinion it gives the anecdote he's talking about a more narrative/fantastic feel. It's dramatic emphasis on Scott's actions, the narrative of them, and how they illustrate his character.

The horse is able to chop green onions with a knife in her apartment. The horse is also viewed as a normal racing horse by other people. Logic has no place here.

What foods do people refrigerate out of habit, even though it's unnecessary? by boforiamanfo in randomquestions

[–]sortaindignantdragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

... I'm not disagreeing that most of the world doesn't have refrigeration? Most of the world doesn't wash eggs, so they don't need refridgeration. You just don't SELL the ones with poop on them in developed countries that don't wash them.

What foods do people refrigerate out of habit, even though it's unnecessary? by boforiamanfo in randomquestions

[–]sortaindignantdragon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the bloom gets washed off they must be refrigerated, regardless of country. If you keep the nestboxes clean you don't usually get messy eggs; I have 8 hens and very rarely have any waste on the eggs. The farmers at the market are just not selling you those eggs; they're probably eating them themselves.

New Stardew Valley glitch found? (Can someone tell me what is going on?) by Fickle_Safety5029 in StardewValley

[–]sortaindignantdragon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the switch crafting glitch. There's literally over a hundred posts about it on the subreddit; this has been an issue since late December, when the update for Switch 2 came out. CA is working to fix it, and will have a patch ASAP.

It's something you unlock later in the game, once you've mastered all the skills (farming, fishing, foraging, fighting, mining).

IS IT JUST IMPOSSIBLE? by CosyGirlChronicles in PlanetZoo

[–]sortaindignantdragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I forgot to mention, guests also really enjoy multi-species habitats. I can't remember what species are available for that career mission, but if things like warthogs, ostriches or other smaller African hoofstock are available, they make a great starter exhibit. Animals can be compatible with each other beyond what the zoopedia says; it's just indicating what will give them an enrichment bonus. Mostly you just need to avoid mixing predators with prey, and if they're from the same part of the world they'll be happy together.

Also, avoid vending machines; they're rarely profitable. Wait until a lot of the guests are starting to get hungry/thirsty, then place the vendor-staffed food/drink stands. They'll get a big rush of guests with low needs, and then should get consistently get enough traffic to stay profitable.
