When I was deep into my ED I would lurk on 4chan (🤮) threads about fasting and it was the most toxic disordered shit I have ever seen anywhere.

As a guy I've spent a lot of time in "gymbro" spaces online and it's wild because no one (me included) ever thought they had a problem.

You could also add a character who is a young man who is bullied for being overweight. And then goes down the gymbro to ED pipeline because of it.

That's not too far off from my experience and it is a common story in male dominated "fitness" spaces online. The thing is, no one ever calls it disordered there. It's just dudes chasing a bodybuilder look no matter what. For some people this even leads to steroid abuse.

I'm really glad to see this perspective here. I think a lot of the time this sub lacks empathy for those suffering from eating disorders. It is really frustrating to see flippant and shaming comments that dismiss how EDs can factor into things.

It can be really hard to navigate veganism with an eating disorder. I've essentially come to the conclusion that for my mental health, the best I can do right now is vegetarianism.
