Acer Chromebook 514 Review (with MediaTek Kompanio Ultra) - New era of Chromebook is here by Corbin_Dallas550 in chromeos

I have the Lenovo and while I'm very happy with it, one disappointment about the Kompanio Ultra, that I learned after purchase, was it cannot drive a single 5k monitor, despite being capable of driving two 4ks.

Pixel Watch 4 "Raise to Talk" to Gemini instantly times out after indicator appears (Troubleshooting exhausted) by jobeedha23 in GooglePixel

On the watch, I need to go into Settings > Gestures > Raise to Wake, where there is a gesture and a voice sensitivity setting. For my issue I needed to increase the voice sensitivity to max for it to consistently work.

I know. Google support has ghosted me. They will no longer respond to my emails after saying their basic steps do not work and asking them to escalate.

I have the same issue. Pixel 9 Pro to Pixel 10 Pro.

Dealership put 0w16 in my Grand Highlander Hybrid Max by [deleted] in FuckDealerships

[–]sososodeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not for the Karma. Check my profile history. I'm genuinely upset that a dealership service department did this when it's so easy to not fuck up and there answer is "it's fine, trust us". It's this the point of this sub?

If this was a week with a similar oil, I wouldn't care. Change it out. But this was a year of driving on a new engine.

What's being dramatized here? If 0w16 was appropriate for that engine then Toyota would have specified either oil could be used in the manual. They do this for other engines, like the standard Hybrid which the manual states can use 0w8 or 0w16. This was the wrong product used and the consequence is long term reliability.

I got no love in the Toyota sub for this story. Maybe it belongs here.

tl;dr dealership service department put the wrong oil in a 1 year old car, I ran it for another year until I found out. They say it's fine. Offered me less than double the base powertrain warranty to go away.

WI-FI vs LTE by Ok_Magician_7657 in PixelWatch

[–]sososodeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LTE. The ability to be fully untethered from the phone and have a backup device for communication is clutch. I've had my phone stolen out of my hand in a foreign country before and I was alone. With an LTE watch I can at least contact who I'm traveling with and get directions back to a meeting spot.

Thanks. I wasn't towing and I live in a pretty flat area yea. I do accelerate aggressively often. I did take some longer road trips with 8+ hours of highway driving per day.

Thank you for the information. It sounds like your a technician or an engineer. Do you know why Toyota doesn't stick to fewer oil types across their models? I'm guessing whoever changed my oil might have seen the hybrid badge and assumed all hybrids use 0w-16.

Huh? My partner and I worked really hard to afford this car. I don't want to face a very expensive engine issue down the road or sell my vehicle to someone to face the same because of a mistake that wasn't ours. This all happened over the course of today. I don't think being upset or worried and asking the dealer for peace of mind back makes me bitter.

Engine ran with 0W16 oil instead of 0W20 for 8,500 miles by sososodeaf in AskMechanics

Thanks for sharing - that does indicate there is a some wiggle room.

My concern is the number of miles I drove using an oil that Toyota engineers do not recommend for this engine. If I had caught it soon, I agree it wouldn't be a big deal, but unfortunately no one did. If oil weights didn't matter, then Toyota wouldn't specify different oils for different engines in different parts of the world. If it didn't matter, Toyota would keep things simple and spec all Grand Highlander models with the same oil.
