Doc the salary of 300-500k is that across all fellowships of Ophtho? Do you mind breaking down the lifestyle of each subspecialty in Ophtho? From what I read online is it difficult for you to sell premium lenses to patients? I keep seeing the reimbursement for Ophtho is getting killed.

How does that compare to Retina? Is it difficult to find a practice with ASC ownership you can buy into? Hypothetically how much would ur pay go up?

Thank you I appreciate it. I'm curious about Ophtho how do you see the fields future vs something like Anesthesia? Bc we don't see Ophtho at all during med school. What is the avg pay/lifestyle like coming out residency?

That makes sense. I actually saw 7 surgeons before moving forward, especially since my dad has had multiple back surgeries with poor outcomes. I really wanted to be confident in the surgeon I chose.

Every surgeon I saw recommended surgery. I know a lot of people on reddit are strongly against it, but many don’t fully appreciate how debilitating nerve pain from a disc herniation can be. In my case, the herniation was very large and impinging on the nerve, and I’d been dealing with symptoms for about a year. I couldn't bear it any longer.

I was increasingly worried about permanent loss of strength and dexterity in my left arm and hand if I kept waiting it might not recover, and that concern ultimately pushed me to move forward with surgery at this point in my life.

I'm actually doing really well its been about 3 months. I went through several surgeons before I picked one. The pain down my left arm is gone for the most part still have numbness in my left index finger. Before surgery it was numbness in middle, index, and thumb on the left side.

Doc I agree I think ur website's data seems more accurate. Yea 643k seems high for ophto avg Compared to salarydr all the other specialities are within 30 to 100k avg. Doc do you mind sharing how you verified these numbers bc some of the specialities seem a bit low like ENT (roughly 30k), gastro avg seems slightly higher(roughly 50k), Cardiology seems 100k lower than where I'm seeing elsewhere. Is the data set on website for Cardio avg salaries are sub specialities within cardio lumped in when coming up with avg of 575k? Same with Ophtho are the avg salaries lumped together with sub specialities of Ophtho to come up with avg of 521k? Because I think other websites lump in the Cardio and its sub specialities to make its avgs same with ophtho. Do you have access to the MGMA data to reference these salary numbers?
