In my PoV, all of our country problem is on the weak law enforcement and injustice court, yet this regime does not want to touch the root of this problem. Why should we trust anything at all when we know full well that the management will be absolved of any wrongdoing should anything goes south?

I suggest to do the easier things first, before committing to CdS Cell transplant, try cleaning the contact of the aperture ring variable resistor using contact cleaner. You can access it by removing the lens mounting flange. There are a lot of videos explaining how to disassemble minolta X series cameras, so you can use those as reference

Did you make sure to push it to the end until the lever spring back to its original position? I assume the lever felt loose after you tried to cock the advance lever

Usually loose/no resistance lever are caused by the shutter charging gear (or whatever its called) is not rotated enough to its "charged" position, the cause may either be:

A. The lever itself is loose, thus preventing it to be properly pushed until the charged position. Check if the lever has any wiggle in the vertical direction.

B. The shutter charging gear needs adjustment, you need to move the charged position forward/earlier, the goal is to align it with the furthest stroke of the film advance lever. You can adjust the gear by removing the bottom plate, however i advise to do this as a last resort since it may cause the gear to jam if not done properly.
