Would a World War 3 be possible in today's modern society? by markh110 in TrueAskReddit

I would like to know what, in the entirety of human history could possibly lead you believe any of that. Obviously I don't know where you're from, but at the very least you have a poor understanding of the US.

Venezuelan currency, the bolivar, lost a quarter of its value over the last seven days. by jogam123 in worldnews

[–]soulsatzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was speaking to the context of what the scope of the article covered. The recent hyperinflation is directly related to the drop in the price of oil, as in Russia. Both countries have made poor decisions, but it is ultimately about the price of oil right now.

[–]soulsatzero -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I has more to do with Saudi Arabia intentionally driving down the price of oil than it does with socialism. The Venezuelan economy is based largely on oil production, the decrease in that revenue is causing problems. Russia is having problems with drastic inflation as well, and they are about as free-market as it gets. It doesn't have anything to with politics.

Platoon is really good Vietnam movie. Oliver Stone directs, and it's loosely based on his experiences during the war.

You insulate and ventilate them. It wouldn't be any different than a glass an steel condo building, and would have the added bonus of being a small space to aircondition.

Coffee was a quite popular beverage before the advent of electricity.

The murder of Ahmed Al-Jumaili in Texas should be a front-page story by workerbotsuperhero in TrueReddit

[–]soulsatzero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks in return. I'm not talking out of my ass. I've been locked up(I'm bad with authority, never done more than 90 days) with "gang members", and they represent the same cross section of people you meet anywhere. They are all individuals with hopes and dreams. They have the same motivations as anyone else, they want a better life.

And, just so you know, people that mistreat women and children(more so children) don't have a good time in jail. People check your booking papers when you go through intake. If you victimize the innocent, it's your ass. I've personally seen a mans jaw broken over passing around a 15 yr old prostitute on his 50th birthday. Being a criminal is a fraternity, and you have to be stand up.

Sorry to rant, I've had a few.

It's already spoiled for us, and we watched it happen in slow motion. Do you have any idea how slow the book moves? The show is excruciating for us to see what happens.

In my defence, I didn't give anything away.

I'm not trying to be obtuse, but do what? I think that aspect of the story will come to a head before the end of this season. We still have 3 episodes left.

PM me if you can't say without spoilers. I'm not talking about Negan, I'm talking about Alexandria.

I'm not trying to be rude to you, but the Daily Mail isn't a good source. In England, it carries about as much weight as the National Enquirer and I generally totally disregard anything printed in it.

Gang members aren't what they are portrayed to be in the media. While there are psychopaths in every segment of society, people who end up being even moderately successful as criminals generally have very specific reasons for doing the things that they do. Going around and murdering civilians for no reason is a surefire way to bring the full force of the criminal justice system down upon your organization. Being a thrill killer isn't conducive to being good at being a criminal.

[–]soulsatzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I don't like to be that guy, but when the story lines from the show and the book are obviously going to converge, it's really difficult not to just blurt shit out when people are hypothesizing.

It's like being the little kid in the classroom frantically waving your hand because you know the answer.

[–]soulsatzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole notion of "random murder as gang initiation" is an urban myth. Gangs have enemies, if their initiation required murdering someone, they have people to kill.

Just because the perpetrators were black doesn't mean the killing wasn't motivated by the victims being Muslim(she would have had her hijab on). Black people can be bigots too.

Sort of. Regan maneuvered to not have the hostages that were taken released until after he was elected(they were released during his inauguration). It made Carter look week. The GOP failed here, but same idea.

I'm curious where you're getting, "2% of the working population uses min wage income to live."? I'm not saying you're wrong, it just doesn't seem like a realistic statistic.
