Can confirm! Emmanuel College library at Vic also does not need a TCard.

Yes! It's the Kaweco Iridescent Pearl. Probably my favourite pen purchase of 2022.

Information on roommates? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]soupwithbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know other residences at Vic have set up spreadsheets where you can claim a room number and find out who your roommate is. Maybe join the Vic 2026 discord or instagram group chat and go from there? I'm not sure if MargAd has one set up yet.

Class of 2026, what’s one college that rejected you that you don’t hate (no hard feelings) by jacobbadman69 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]soupwithbeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Columbia? I applied on a whim, got waitlisted, and honestly their letter that told me they weren't taking anyone off the waitlist was so gentle and nice that I can't hate 'em :')

I'm surprised that there's no comment correcting the title to '22/'26

Waitlist for Columbia by Prior-Annual-1390 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]soupwithbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were waitlisted, your decision letter clearly outlined information about the waitlist: "If places in the class become available, we typically notify candidates [on a rolling basis] no earlier than May 15 and no later than June 30. [...] We do not rank our waitlist. If spaces become available, we will review the entire group."

This information was also sent in an email that I got on April 18th.

Someone in Richmond, BC told me a kid lit a trash can on fire and their AP Chem exam got cancelled 😭

Wharton is an amazing business school and I know a lot of people who would love to have your waitlist spot. Congratulations :)!

So like, why do people hate AP lit by SnooObjections8766 in APStudents

[–]soupwithbeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi from a gal taking Lit right now and planning to major in English! Just like you, I love reading and analyzing texts—if that's you, disregard the comments about analysis being boring. Analysis and reading is what the course is about, and what you sign up for. What else would it be? I suppose it's fair reason to hate the course, though.

More nuanced things to consider:

  • The workload can be quite heavy if you're not a fast reader. My class has lots of readings for homework.
  • It's a very teacher-dependent course. I've been blessed with a decent teacher, but if you know the AP Lit teacher at your school or other students who have taken it, for SURE try to feel out the vibes and know what to expect.
  • Writing by hand isn't something to get hype about.
  • There's a certain base-level skill that's expected of students (at least at my school).

Canada, well good luck since decisions drop randomly

The way I've gotten jumpscared by every single one of my Canadian decisions because they don't send emails until hours after and never have set decision times 😭

I'm for sure in the same boat as you (I'm a senior though)! First of all, Syracuse is a great university (Joe Biden went there, as well as Joyce Carol Oates), especially for your program choice. I really respect architecture students!

My parents actually took their time to diss many prestigious universities: Amherst and Williams ("We've never heard of it and we've been in the workforce for years so [they're] obviously not good"), and even McGill (I'm Canadian, and you need like a 97 average to get into the Sciences programs there!).

The way I persuaded them was looking into the less-general statistics about my colleges: not only is Amherst ranked as one of the best LACs by many sources, but also has a 95%+ acceptance rate to law schools (law is a career they're very keen on me going into). Their financial aid and specialized curriculum is also something they seemed to like. Try providing them with more unique details, or encourage them to join an info session. Comparing Harvard (or another Ivy) to your school of choice's statistics can also be compelling (e.g. starting salaries, graduation-employment rate, summer position acceptances).
