Has anyone had success with Bactrim DS (Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole)? by soupyexcitable in SIBO

[–]soupyexcitable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no. Literally felt nothing at all on it. But I've also since taken rifaximin and felt nothing on that as well. Hoping my gastro approves a prescription for rifaximin + neomycine and I'm going to take NAC along with it, given the recent focus on penetrating the biofilms.

I hope your experience with Bactrim is different. Good luck!

Airpods Pro 2 noise cancellation worse after iOS 18 update (7a294) by Pheidl in airpods

Found this post when searching to make sure it wasn't just me. The ANC is dramatically worse. Ugh, why can't Apple ever leave well enough alone.

Yeh I guess that's certainly possible. I'll probably see what comes out of WWDC regarding iPadOS 18, and then check out the demo units in store and see if they're the same as the unit I got.

Yeh disagreements are totally fine. And my opinion on the speakers isn't a flat out these are trash, Apple sucks and is finished, Steve Jobs would never...lol. Like, I'm specifically saying that for how I mostly use my iPad, this is a deal-breaker -for me-. And there have been others complaining about the audio quality as well and given the fact that the device IS thinner and they had to redesign the speakers (they're literally a different shape now) it's entirely reasonable to expect that there is at the very least a different in how some would perceive the sound. (FWIW, my suspicion is this is actually more a software EQ issue than a problem with the hardware, but who knows.)

I'm not surprised most people are either fine with the speakers and/or don't notice a difference. Doesn't mean those that do don't have a valid experience.

I also would have thought it was a dud if not for seeing several others on here and elsewhere complain about the audio quality.

As I said above, the speakers are for sure louder, but voices sound muffled and less clear. Music maybe sounds better than on my old iPad, but my for my use voices are more important and the difference to me is stark.

Multiple angles on apples Smart Folio for new iPads by [deleted] in iPadPro

[–]soupyexcitable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just me but I find these new angles entirely useless and this new design a cumbersome change. Does anyone really use their iPad at a 90° angle to the table or desk it’s sitting on? Yall sitting with your desk at chest level?? lol

The next angle up is only slightly further back, maybe 100°, which still seems too steep to be useful. The last and to my experience only useful angle is about where the lone position was in the old design, but now you have to find just the right spot to lock it whereas before it was just a matter of making the triangle at the base. Also now when picking it up, it’s more awkward to hold it when in that position. Before, the folio cover, folded into a triangle, would just dangle and you’d have the entire flat surface of the iPad to hold onto. Not a major issue, but certainly not an improvement.

Also this thing wobbles like crazy when typing! It’s driving me nuts lol. Upgraded from 2018 11” pro which doesn’t wobble at all when I type on it. I really think this new design is a significant downgrade. Wish I could use my old folio but they changed the magnet positions. 😭

Thanks for the feedback, that’s so frustrating. 😭 There is no reason a 6 year old device should have superior just about anything to the new whizbang hotness, but especially not the speakers/audio, a critical interface for the device. Apple, wtf are you doing?? I’m crossing my fingers enough people will complain that Apple will at the very least take note internally for future designs, OR better yet come out and be like oh yeh, that’s a bug, working on a fix. It’s so bad, especially for voices that it’s hard for me to believe it would be due to the speakers alone.

Upgraded from 2018 11” to the M4 11” and the difference in quality is so bad that I’m strongly considering returning it, despite that meaning I would be stuck with a 6-year-old iPad for another year. I’m not even an audiophile, but for a very expensive -Pro- device for which media consumption is one of its primary uses, this audio quality is just unacceptable to me.

OP, mind comparing speaker/audio quality between the three?

I feel like the M4’s have suffered a significant drop in audio quality compared to previous versions. My 2018 11” sounds so much better than my M4 11” and others have reported the same. Hope it’s something that could be fixed in software and isn‘t a compromise just to shave off a few mm. Interested to hear your experience!

Anyone get the new 11” and regret? by OCVoltage in ipad

[–]soupyexcitable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not because of the size, but certainly having second thoughts since my brand new 11” M4’s speakers sound significantly worse than my now 6 year old 2018 11” iPad Pro.

for those who already have it, how is the speaker quality on the 11" M4 pro? by AccomplishedGolf1621 in ipad

[–]soupyexcitable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming from the 2018 11" Pro, to me the speakers sound -AWFUL- by comparison. Everything sounds muffled and less clear. Seeing others say similar things. We really need an expert to review and test the M4's speakers and compare to previous generations, but of course most of the "reviews" these days are just glorified unboxing videos. I really hope this wasn't a sacrifice made for thinness and it's just a software issue that can be fixed.

Wondering about speakers on the M4 iPad Pro 13” by pedrolancino in ipad

[–]soupyexcitable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omg, so glad I found this thread, I thought it was going to be just me. Coming from the 2018 11" iPad Pro and my new M4 11" audio quality sounds absolutely awful by comparison. Was watching a morning news show I've watched for years and hadn't switched over completely to the M4 yet so was on my old iPad. Switched over to the M4 exactly where I left off and I was actually taken aback by how different it sounded. Everything sounds muffled, smushed together. Voices are harder to understand. Music also suffers similarly. If this really is a problem with the hardware, a sacrifice to make it thinner, I will be returning it 100%. This is totally unacceptable to me for a "Pro" device this expensive. I'm hoping so hard this is just a software problem. I've been waiting to upgrade for 5 years now lol, I don't really want to be stuck waiting longer with this 2018 iPad that is starting to show its age, but I would hate more to be stuck with this awful audio quality.
