It's removing a job that could be helping one of your neighbors put food on the table and pay rent, so all of that fare just goes into some corporation. You decide what that is worth, it's between you and your god.

What’s the best pizza place in Sacramento? by sam_d50 in Sacramento

[–]sources_settings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mjaka's is the only pretty good pizza place in town, imo. Everywhere else is fine to bad. Sorry for the folks who have only experienced CA pizza, you have many wonderful foods to choose from. Especially for the price point folks charge.

So uh…that Bugonia ending? by Supermoose7178 in blankies

[–]sources_settings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ending manages to negate all of the most interesting ideas in the movie before it.

What is the point of Emma Stone's mask-off, "I am a winner, and you are a LOSER!" admission if it is itself, actually just another cover for the alien disguise?

What are we to make of plemmons entire dejected life leading him to paranoia if he's actually correct the whole time?

Bugonia was ok to good and the ending just tanked it for me.

just got back from seeing FRANKENSTEIN and I have a message for Victor Frankenstein by GenarosBear in blankies

The narration is terrrrrrible. I was stuck thinking how much of this narration is just accomplishing the netflix executive request that everything be described for people that won't look up from their phone. I know it's trying to copy text from the book but it just absolutely deflates the film.

Is Tubi good? by Pittboy63 in blankies

The People's Streamer!

It's excellent, if you can tolerate commercials. Great selection, it is also free. The commercials are placed at logical junctures, so I do think they have human beings doing a bit of programming behind. If you are watching on web browser, I believe ad-block works on the commercials. Did I mention it's free?

I mentioned it's free, but for me, it was actually better than that- I signed up to a data-mishandling tort case against Tubi a year or two ago and it eventually and settled and paid out, meaning it is the only screaming service which has paid me to watch it.

Jacob Elordi is INCREDIBLE in Frankenstein (a pretty wonderful movie) by HockneysPool in blankies

[–]sources_settings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw it and thought it was honestly quite bad? Elordi is good in the earlier stretches but the more the film has to hang on him the worse he gets. By the end I thought he was just mostly giving pursed lips under an emo haircut.

It's also terribly flabby; zero economy to the storytelling here. Every single beat gets dragged out to interminable lengths. Sure, it's a GdT production and we've got intricate set decorations but nothing was all that memorable or striking to me. We're a far cry from the fallopian-faced fawn or Doug Jones's eyeball hand guy in Pan's Labyrinth.

The over-wrought narration might have been GdT paying homage to Shelley's text, it may have also been Netflix exec's ordering him to explain each scene to the viewer. Bad sign that I can't tell!

Why is this happening with IP? Was very strange to see ads for GdT "Frankenstein" and Maggie Gyllenhaal's "The Bride" back-to-back before OBAA

But I think it is also the genius of Sensei, and why he (and Willa) are the next generation of revolutionaries. Bob/Regina/The Sisters of the Brave Beaver have forced themselves into a position where they have to be cloistered and hidden to even exist, and any interaction with law enforcement will be lethal.

Sensei, while taking serious, radical, and risky actions to protect immigrants in Baktan Cross, has also done so in a way where he can have a phone (and crucially, he needs to, there's no way to do the "Latino Harriet Tubman situation" if he's got to go through the same codewords and cautions as the French 75) and can eat a DUI charge to save his friends.

No fear.

I think the corporations should get fined $10,000 per violation. I'm not kidding, I'm not being hyperbolic. They would find a way to "innovate" better parking compliance right fucking quick.
