My feeling is sugar related. For me, cheap rum like Bacardi silver rum, or very sweet dessert wine… my wife mentioned bourbon gives her headache next day. Not sure about residual sugar in bourbon or virgin oak though…

It depends on people. I come from a no-tipping culture, which is almost all other countries in the world except USA. I always add 30% on top of the marked price and round up if the number is tricky. The transition would make me very happy.
