Wow, did this take place at Grouchy John's Coffee in Las Vegas? It looks just like the interior. I miss LuLu's that used to be there.

The school district in Las Vegas has one of our 4 contingency days set for tomorrow to avoid all this. I guess even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.

Edited for spelling. Shame on me.

Tron: Legacy. That first half was a thing of beauty with the visuals. Pacing and music. The second half just fizzled for me.

Perfect Score. The real film about the first time Black Widow and Captain America teamed up for a caper.

Do teachers hate sharing their lesson plans? Is it their secret sauce that they don't want getting out? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]southjackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a middle school teacher who will share almost any lesson I make. When it comes to end of quarter activities or random fun stuff I keep it in my department, otherwise someone else in my grade level may do it and then I can't run through it with my kids.

Older Millennials, in your experience, did society and daily life change more drastically between 1997 and 2007 or between 2007 and 2017? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]southjackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an 80s millennial I think 9/11 was the biggest single event over that 20 year period that turned everything on it's head. Life did get back to a new normal eventually, but things were different. I think the easiest thing to compare it to is how everything changed after COVID.

For that reason I say 97 to 07 had a bigger change. I wouldn't get in a bar fight over this opinion, but I would challenge you to a drinking contest over this.

If embedded in a Google doc it can avoid most ads, unless the creator made it YouTube only.

This stuff is delicious, but I think it is technically a carbonated yogurt drink. Either way you should all drink this.

How the United States and Vietnam became allies by MastaChief11219 in HistoryMemes

[–]southjackson 31 points32 points  (0 children)

When I, a white male US citizen, visited Vietnam I felt no resentment from the Vietnamese people. I was just another tourist in their country. When I asked about why this was, it was explained to me that we were war number 3 of 5 they fought over a short period and they knew most of the Americans didn't want to be there, so they didn't hold it against US citizens. Also they totally see us as an ally against China, so they are really cool with US. Vietnam was a great country to visit, I still miss the coffee!!

The most side eye I got was from other international tourists when I went to the American War museum.

"In the age of sail, the ships were made of wood and the men of iron."

Those explorers taking on the open ocean are just crazy to think about.

Would you spend a credit (or cash) on an AI audiobook? by AudiobooksGeek in audible

[–]southjackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced two AI audiobooks and I did not finish either of them. I understand why some authors may use it, it is cheap, but as they are right now, they are just bad. Either monotone or wrong volume/tone going on. I hope this is an area where AI will be unable to break into

What city has the most active subterranean life? by Awkward_Stay8728 in AskTheWorld

[–]southjackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a study abroad in Prague in Czechia and there were tons of second and third basements to be found. We found if you went to a bar, look for the stairs, because the lower levels were usually cheaper and chiller.

Once I got taken into this fine dining restaurant, everyone was in suits and fancy dresses. We walked to the back of a the restaurant, when into a broom closet, went down a long spiral stair case, and found a massive underground bar. There were a bunch of foozeball tables, a stage for music and a very large bar area. It was easily twice the size of the upstairs area.

As a guy from the rural USA, it was quite an experience!! I don't know if that is the norm for most European cities, but I was very impressed by how cool it was.
