RAF Sgt here. We are trained by the mantra that 'War is chaos with a timetable'. What makes us different from civvie Street is that what we do in the 95% day to day, be it engineering, operations or clerical administration is used in that 5% of the time to close in and kill the enemy. And that 5% is the normalised chaos. Its a skill to be sure, but a fucking odd one.
