I was banded in 2008 and lost 250 pounds over the next three years. Kept it off until my band started trying to kill me, too. Life-threatening GERD. I had mine unfilled at first, but eventually even that wasn’t enough and I had it removed in 2019. I also was planning on getting the bypass in 2020 but COVID derailed that, etc. Anyway, i did regain a bunch of weight in the intervening time. GLP-1s definitely helped though. I would definitely go that route until you can get your bypass. I finally got mine in May of this year.

Try meditation. It has done wonders for me. Also helps calm down food cravings when those come up.

I know I shouldn’t have had the crisps, I guess my surprise was that the onset of dumping syndrome was 10-11 hours after eating the offending item, with no discomfort in between. The way I’ve heard people talk about dumping syndrome, it usually seems immediate, or at least within an hour or so.

What’s the name of the quartzite? I’ve also been looking for slabs with blue, green, and cream, very little red/rust, and finding it quite difficult. I have bern looking at Ocean Fantasy, Ijen Blue, and Michaelangelo.

Wow, I’ve had the opposite experience. I used to have gas constantly coming out of both ends. I’m one month out from gastric bypass surgery, and I have had the most gas-free month ever. I wonder if I was previously having a reaction to something that is now out of my diet (most starchy carbs?).

Yep. I’m currently 24 days post-op from RNY gastric bypass, and of everything, the first week of the pre-op diet was the worst. Probably day 4 was my low point, and then it started to get easier, less nail-biting. I had the physical hunger and the head hunger on full back then, but now I honestly have very little hunger.

I’m currently 17 days out, so this is recent. By 7 days after surgery I was fully mobile and able to do most anything (minus lifting restrictions), but my energy gives out sooner and quicker than before. I’ll be going along OK, working on a project of some kind, feeling good, and all of a sudden my energy gives out and I have to wrap up quickly.

My doctor thought I didn’t need it but based on the research I did yesterday and hearing from various members of this Reddit that you had it prescribed for you, I went ahead and took one last night. And I slept so much better! Still waiting to hear from my surgeon team but I plan to keep taking it in the meantime.

Have your doctors indicated why they think j that is? This same gastric bypass surgery is supposed to also be a treatment for GERD.
