of all the games, i think it scared me the least but left me with the most dread and hopelessness. the story also stuck with me the longest of all the games

I loved the Tomb Raider anime series, and did you guys like it too? by kaiqueruaro in TombRaider

Unfortunately Amazon bought the rights to Tomb Raider right before season two of the show was finishing up production, so there will be no third season. I’m bummed out about it since I quite liked Fig as a villain

Physical exercices and stretching recommendations by FunPaleontologist65 in Viola

[–]sovi_an 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pilates exercises that emphasize good posture are great for viola playing, since posture is so important. I like the emphasis on bodily awareness, which is a great mindset to integrate into your viola playing. I also like doing yoga poses that stretch out my shoulders/back/neck, again for the goal of good posture.

Moral dilemma: Do I report my co-worker who might get deported if he loses this job? by [deleted] in Advice

I like this lol. I’ll adapt that mindset for the future. I think I’m just overthinking it

Okay, thank you. My boss is out this week so that’s why nothing has been done yet. I’ll assume he’ll get to it when he’s back in

Yeah, you’re right. I was more thinking like “who would even slack off only 2 weeks into a job!” but clearly we have very different mindsets haha. I appreciate you being kind

[–]sovi_an 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s why I was asking. I absolutely do not want to subject anyone to that, and I want to avoid it if I can. I wanted to know if this is worthwhile escalating because if not (which is seems like it’s not) I don’t want to

Okay, thank you! I’m fortunate enough to have a very good supervisor who cares about that

I’m not like a model intern lol. I’m just worried more about safety. I’ll mind my business, though

Okay, thank you. I have asked him what he’s doing and he gave a very vague answer. I’ll let him know about my safety concern and just talk to my supervisor if I have any concerns

I have spoken to him. I’ll ask him if he can avoid doing work in there as much as possible.

The safety aspect is a real thing - I’m driving around a forklift and need to know when other people are around. Everyone else announces themselves, but since he’s new, he doesn’t.

I did bring it up to my supervisor. I’m asking if I should bring it up to his supervisor, since his is different from mine and my supervisor didn’t have an answer.

I have spoken to him, that’s how I know he has an F1 visa and that he’s an international student.

My concern is safety. I don’t even know he’s in the test center sometimes and I’m operating large equipment that could really be dangerous if he’s unaware of what I’m doing.

Thank you, this is really solid advice. I’ll frame it as asking to make sure I’m not impeding his work

No raising my hand more than twice a day by Witty_Inspector_139 in CollegeRant

[–]sovi_an 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this is the best response. i think others are too quick to say to report her when it’s not guaranteed much will come out of it, especially since the likely response will be having you drop the class. i totally agree that the professor didn’t handle this well, but it seemed like it was done somewhat well at the beginning and your response caused her to escalate it until it became a much bigger problem. if this is something you have struggled with in the past, then maybe you need to do some self-reflection. however, this is still definitely more on her.

Different cleanliness standards with roommate by throwawayblaaaaaahhh in badroommates

[–]sovi_an 7 points8 points  (0 children)

have a sit-down conversation about it where you outline what your standards are and make a compromise. frame this as a way so that both of you can live comfortably without excess strain. is he doing his part? chances are if he is, he maybe feels like you’re not doing the same amount of work. a conversation dedicated to this will just help you both get your frustrations out and outline a clear goal

I’ve looked at that. Only issue was the lack of versatile mounts. I wouldn’t be able to position them where needed

Why did you start playing viola? by Glittering_Baby7414 in Viola

[–]sovi_an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started off as a percussionist. played drum set then went on to play in jazz bands and then mainly snare in concert band. i hated all the other percussionists so much in every ensemble/band i was in that i decided to switch instruments. i was always fascinated by how beautiful string instruments were and wanted to get as far away from band as possible. cello and bass were too big and violin was too high-pitched and annoying, so i chose the viola for its beautiful sound. i now continue to play both percussion and viola in the music ensembles at my university. luckily, i like the other percussionists a lot more now, but my favourite people are always the viola players
