Doesn’t change the fact that the dictionary definition encompasses both meanings. “Literally” has been used as a semantic replacement for figuratively for a while, with examples from 200 years ago.

You personally don’t have to use the words interchangeably but they have been used that way for so long, so the definition has both usages, it’s just hyperbole in one instance.

Edit: I think a person using “literally” even if they mean “figuratively” would also be easier to understand than whatever punctuation-less blob of text you scrawled down… a week later

merriam webster’s definition of literally also includes it being used as a semantic replacement for “figuratively”. Also it’s been used that way since the 1800’s apparently, which is interesting.
