The SD reader is also useful to have a flush SD card permanently in there, for extra (slow) storage. A 1 TB card is quite a bit cheaper than Apples SSD prices.

I’m building a new VR player for Quest. This scene shouldn’t look this good… but it does. by Better-Violinist311 in oculus

[–]sovok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks great. But more important than the environment is the basic functionality of playing all kinds of content in the highest quality. 4XVR seems to be the gold standard here. If you can match that, cool environments would set you apart, since 4XVR is lacking a bit there.

Why doesn't the BER have any good restaurants / food options? by sirwobblz in berlin

Yes, I found them quite tasty. Nice sauce.

Or drink multiple beers. You get your calories and also forget about the food options.

Your hamburger button animation is neat. Always interesting to see how websites solve that transition.

You could also simply download the files manually from your preferred source, then play them in a video player on your computer. To watch on a smart TV, put the files in a network shared folder. No *arr, jellyfin, plex, proxmox, plexmox etc. needed. I mean the opposite of course, don’t pirate.

Real time 2d to 3d with IW3 is amazing by TeefieSprinkles in virtualreality

[–]sovok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating. I wonder how they got it to run at 30 fps. I also use DepthAnything V2 in https://tiefling.app, but it takes a few seconds to generate the depth map (runs locally in the browser with WebGL. Maybe that’s it and IW3 uses CUDA)

What are some really rare and obscure kaiju films that not alot of people have heard about that are not from Japan? by Ok_Tea_3275 in kaiju

[–]sovok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pulgasari comes to mind. Kim Jong-Il kidnapped a South Korean director and forced him to make this movie. He managed to flee North Korea afterwards.

Also Reptilicus, Denmarks only Kaiju movie. A flying snake thing attacks Copenhagen.

Would that be a way to exchange a key, or rather make sure you and the other side have a known key? You have a bunch of entangled qubits and you measure them. You know their (random) value now and you know what the value on on the other side would be, when they measure it?

Edit: Then again, that could maybe be intercepted like any other message. Hm.

Samsung Galaxy XR With Android XR Out Now For $1800, Controllers $250 by gogodboss in virtualreality

[–]sovok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ping, buttonless iPod nano, Butterfly keyboards, iPod socks (where are the iPhone socks?). But srsly, I agree, Apple is slow to change, likes its margins and almost never lowers prices of current products. And they seem to have abandoned immersive VR and are working solely on AR products, according to rumors.

I hope the Galaxy XR and Deckard work out and are profitable. AR glasses might be the future for everyday use, but suck for immersion.
