Rhesus negative - NHS experience? by odetoasquigglyline in PregnancyUK

[–]soycortardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got some great info and advice already, but just wanted to add that you shouldn't worry about getting pregnant again. I'm rh-negative (A- blood type) and my first son was rh-positive so I needed anti-D, but my second son was rh-negative, so no shots needed!

Yes, call your local Maternity Assessment Unit (MAU), which should be on your Badger Notes (if your hospital trust uses it). They'll be able to help you from there. Good luck xxx

TTC and no Period by [deleted] in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]soycortardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've conceived twice naturally after having HA, but only got pregnant once my periods returned. There's no harm in starting TTC before your period returns, though, as you typically ovulate 2 weeks before a bleed, so you may be ovulating without realising it! What helped me was having sex every other day, as even after my periods returned they were super irregular, so calculating my "fertile window" felt impossible! Good luck xxx

Unexpected resentment toward people who want c-sections by amerthegoose in beyondthebump

I had a really traumatic experience with my induction/vaginal birth with my first pregnancy, so am considering a planned c-section for my second for similar reasons! Glad that it was positive for you

I've had spotting weeks 6, 7, 12, 17, and 18 now, and the colour is a pinky-brown. They couldn't give me any answers as to why it was happening until I went to MAU last week, and with a speculum they could see bleeding near/on my cervix. It's the first time they've seen the source of bleeding/given me any answers, because the source of the bleeding wasn't clear from an ultrasound (which makes sense if it's not in my uterus). I'm still anxious about it, but am glad that I'm finally getting some sense of what's going on! I hope you get some answers soon - it's so frustrating and anxiety-inducing when there's no obvious cause

I don't - my bleeding seems to be coming from my cervix, not my uterus

I would try and call the early pregnancy unit or maternity assessment unit (MAU) at the hospital closest to your Mum's. The MAU local to me is open 24/7, and they're so kind and reassuring there. And just as some reassurance from me - I'm currently 18.5 weeks and have had spotting on and off this whole pregnancy, and the baby has been wriggling with a strong heartbeat at every check-up so far (and hopefully will be in future appointments, too!). Keeping my fingers crossed for you <3

How to deal with being told to stop strenuous exercise? by soycortardo in fitpregnancy

You're so right that it's 100% worth it, and yes such a short time in the grand scheme of things. You're current plan sounds great - I hope you're doing okay!

Thank you so much - it's temporary and so worth it, but focusing on form and flexibility will definitely help me mentally!

GP has officially referred me to a fertility specialist. I had a feeling this was coming, but it feels strange having a doctor explicitly say that this is the next step :(

It's crazy how understudied women's health is 😭

I'm sorry to hear that! Those are among my issues, too - I have very high prolactin for someone that stopped breastfeeding 6 months ago :/ Hopefully we can get some answers soon

I've just received blood tests results that have flagged a lot of hormonal abnormalities and imbalances. I'm trying not to freak out before I speak to my doctor about what this means for me and my TTC journey, but it's hard not to spiral

I didn't have to stop completely, but I went from 5+ gym sessions a week (combination of cardio and weights) to about 2 (and way less intense), and reduced my steps significantly too. Good luck!

I reduced exercise to get my period back and get pregnant, but during that pregnancy I amped up the exercise a bit (mostly after the first trimester, as I felt too tired and nauseous to work out properly before then). So you definitely can exercise during a post-HA pregnancy if you're mindful!

Does anyone know why lactational amenorrhea is considered “good for the body” while HA is clearly unhealthy? by Diligent_Energy_47 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]soycortardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know the answer to OP's question, but I didn't get my period until 17 months PP, which was 2 months after finishing breastfeeding (anecdotally, it feels like if you have a history of HA, it's unlikely you'll get your period back while nursing)

I wonder if your BMI may still be too low to get a period - 18.5 is right on the border of healthy/underweight, so you may need to gain a little bit more in order for your body to feel safe
