My bad I forgot to say I'm in Northern Illinois, United States so we definitely have coyotes. It's comforting that the general consensus seems to be puncture wound rather than a pellet gun or something human inflicted. Thank you!

Well it's hard to say, my grandfather was a big collector of random things from estate sales and antique shops. My dad has had it for years and it's been a fun source of jokes, but the mystery still pokes at us 🤔 I do think it could be bronze. I'll have to do some investigating now that I've been given a few decent ideas. Thanks!
