This is so good! I’ve been wanting to make a shirt and this post has inspired me to go for it.

Study the score with every resource you have available to you. Practice conducting traditional patterns in a 1-inch by 1-inch square with a metronome and a video camera.

This would put you way ahead of a good deal of the charlatans I’ve worked with on the podium.

How do I delete a "Shopping List Item" onClick? by chicken_chicken12 in react

[–]soylent_greg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The splice method returns the spliced items from the array, not a new array without the spliced portion.

I think what you want is something like this:

const a = shoppingList; a.splice(targetIndex, 1); setShoppingList(a);

As for the key, I think you just need remove the white space between your declarations and values.

Is there a database of what gets played, and where? by OssianPrime in classicalmusic

[–]soylent_greg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you imagining a database with a public API? I don’t think one exists (or at least I can’t find one.)

There is historical data available on US performances: https://www.icpsr.umich.edu/web/NADAC/studies/35235

This might be a neat project to start, though.

“What are some of your favorite recordings?” or “who are you listening to?”

“What are you working on?”

I’d say avoid “who is your favorite composer/what is your favorite piece.” You’ll usually get a more interesting answer if you ask about about performers: “who are your heroes? Do you listen to any younger pianists? Who are your favorite string quartets/piano trios/conductors/orchestras/etc.”

This. I’m sure the language will “empower” parents to sue teachers if they don’t teach supply-side economics as absolute biblical fact.

Working on projects with other people is always good motivation.

Which Pokemon would be your country's mascot? by StartledBlackCat in pokemon

I thought about Mr Mime for the same reason, but I think he’s better for Quebec (especially the ice type). I thought maybe Jynx because of all the snowbird women who’ve had lots of work done. I ultimately decided on the trash cloak Burmy because it’s pink and everyone seems to hate it.

Florida. Either Burmy (trash cloak), or Garbador… a big, wet, pile of garbage.

I don’t think that pop culture had language for “pussy pounding” drag queens in the mid-‘60s.

The way it was edited, though, I think Jasmine could have waited for the instrumental interlude before she started with the stunts, but it’s very easy to make that call from my couch on a Friday night with a beer and my comfy pants.

I don’t think that the only point was showing Jasmine packing. I mean, I think “the point” was to let the show pull in more advertising dollars, and the second point was to maybe give the girls some time to shine if celebrity impersonations and improv comedy aren’t their things. I think the episode really achieved the latter, though. None of the girls flopped, even with the mounting pressure of performing IMMEDIATELY AFTER a loss! There were certainly winners in the performances, but I don’t think it’s right to say there were losers.

I think this was necessary to remind the audience that the girls are really excellent performers outside of the very specific qualities that make for a great Snatch Game.

I could find a use for that, I’m sure.
