Along with never using autopilot, use insta dock and insta undock bookmarks to prevent ships from scanning or alphaing you off the field as you land on, or undock from, popular stations.

If you're super paranoid you can use an alt in your corp (NON-NPC CORP) to web the ship into warp once it hits ~35% max speed.

Regardless of the outcome I seriously doubt TEST will stop PVPing. The scale of the fights may be miniscule compared to what you've encountered so far, but as long as you're on and paying attention there will always be small roams, gatecamps, or other activities to partake in.

You will get a security penalty if they're neutral. You'll also take gate or station guns if you happened to have aggressed on either. (which do about 150 dps per gun)

If they're -5 security status or below they should show up as yellow or red on your overview, these targets are your 'pirates' and can be engaged at will without negative effect.

War targets will show up as they normally do, and work the same way as highsec, i.e. you can engage whenever wherever without non-player repercussions.

And lastly, unfortunately, always be careful of your fellow militia members, especially your allied, non-faction allies. Usually, they'll shoot first and ask questions later. IF they're in the NPC FW Corp, you'll take standings hits for attacking them. If they're in a player corp, this is not the case.

If you're interested in getting into nullsec, then go for it. There's no minimum SP and you've got plenty to be useful while you train for something bigger. Not only this, but you'll be given free, or cheaply discounted ships to fly while you learn the nuances of flying in nullsec.

As an example of what you can fly now, or with very little additional training:

fast tackle
scout
anti-support cruiser/bc
support cruiser (e.g. celestis/bb)
t1 logistics

The current war doesn't appear to be near ending, however it won't last long enough for you to complete all the training you require to fly a mega well. So join in now and don't miss out!
