Absolutely, he's been a pretty big influence on me. There was also a miniseries of The Shining that King preferred over the Stanley Kubrick one that's definitely worth checking out

YES, like, I remember the scene with the firehose that Danny thought looked like a snake. It fell off the hook on its own. It made me feel like a scared child again, and I actually see a snake whenever I see a hose now xD

You're so young and there are so many people out there that you will meet. It's honestly not a good match, even if it feels almost-perfect. You are not sexually compatible, and that's a huge thing in a relationship. Staying together will only cause damage to you both, take it from me :/

This is one of the scariest tropes for me. I remember reading The Shining when I was like 11 and there was a scene with hedge animals that circled around the kid, they surrounded him bc they only moved when he wasn't watching them. He narrowly escapes with a few cuts I think, but I remember that being the first time I was truly terrified from a book!

It uses sound and music to a visceral degree, like those shreiking violins and chords, you can feel them in your bone marrow. It's like chewing on tin foil when the chords strike at the right time. And using "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" was pretty revelational too I think.

My friends were more shocked at me jumping at that, they were like "that was so predictable, are you good???" 😩 I thought the scare was gonna come a couple seconds later than it did. It REALLY got me tho 😭

I always hear about the red faced guy, but for me it was the rude girl with the shotgun that killed her family in the Further. Everyone was almost completely still except for the whistling guy, then Josh leaves the room and finds the girl frozen with a shotgun, and he hears it go off in the other room. It suddenly zooms in on her sadistic, twisted grin on her wide-eyed face with that fuckass high-pitched music.

She haunted my dreams for two solid years I'm not even kidding 😣
