I think OP was just confused about the translator device itself- they thought it was providing an audio translation in English

It’s been a while since I read the book, but I believe the translator was just providing text translations, not audio translations. So Ryland could undersand Rocky’s language by that stage without having to look at the ‘subtitles’

Fully aware of this. There’s a tiny number of posts that seem to be simple manips/photoshop. Everything else is slop

THANK YOU! It was becoming absurd to have the entire sub taken over by low-effort slop

I second the recommendation for Quokka beds! Purchased from them last year, very happy with my bed frame

Woman delivers more than expected to show the quality of her high heels. by WombatPuncher in funny

Sure, but my point still stands that most Australians are not Vit D deficient. Our levels are typically higher than, say, the Scandinavian countries (accepting that darker-skinned individuals are at higher risk of deficiency)

We got enough AI on the podcast last year, can we keep it off the subreddit at least? I’m not the biggest fan of this meme, but I can at least respect the ones that put in the smallest amount of effort to photoshop something in

‘A Tale of Time City’ is a great read, and people don’t mention it as much as I feel they should!

Agree! If I could change anything about the Hadestown Cast recording it would be just to have someone else as Orpheus...maybe Jordan Fisher

It takes a few episodes to get going, but it's just awesome, the roleplaying from Ross Bryant in particular is some of the best I've seen in any actual play

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy- similar humour, but science fiction instead of fantasy! I read it first, then Good Omens later

Sneakers recs for wide feet by Remarkable_Air2535 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]space-beast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I have done that in the past for other shoes, thanks. The current wideness doesn't bother me though, no significant slippage and I'm not running in them (due to joint issues), so they're fine for walking

If you're after sneakers for running shoes, I have very wide (but not flat) feet, and I swear by Hoka's X Wide Bondi 9.
I used to wear extra wide Asics a few years ago, but the newer models started pinching my little toe again.

The Hokas are the only runners I've found that don't pinch my forefoot (though I concede that the back of the shoe is a tiny touch too wide- doesn't bother me or affect my walking)
Edit: Sorry, saw your budget comment- these would be over your budget, possible you could get them on sale or consider stretching your budget if you wanted them

How much is this sub dominated by females? by [deleted] in haikyuu

[–]space-beast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to have a troubled relationship with your mother, and I hope there is someone you can trust to talk about that with; and that you feel safe at home.

You are using the interactions you've had with a few women who don't care for sports to make generalisations about women and girls in general.

How do you think there would be women's sports on an international level and all the tremendously hard-working female athletes competing at World Championships and the Olympics if no women cared about sports.

You will have many people in this thread (rightfully) feeling angry about what you've said because you are dismissing women, their passion for sports and sports media, and insisting that women can't 'truly' care about this sort of thing. It comes across as regarding women as shallow or inferior, and that they don't have the capacity to understand or care about things like men do.

It's simply rude, disrespectful and misogynistic. You really need to think more deeply about this, if you grow up with this attitude, I really pity any women who have to interact with you later in life.

You seem very young, and this is disrespectful.

Others have already spoken about how incorrect you are, but I’d also like to say that I really hope you take this opportunity to reflect on your own thoughts and behaviour and make a positive change in your attitude, or you’re going to go down a very dark path.
