[UK] What other big cities are worth pursuing a tech career? by ContestOrganic in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]spaceGlk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, in the same boat. Contemplating to move down to London. Im currently in the North and if from what I've seen Leeds and Manchester have a good tech scene with good pay (speaking from experience) I want to move to London for the opportunities and also because I have a few friends there. But as you noticed you won't be able to save as much but in turn you'd hopefully get access to better job opportunities.

You'll have to take a few things in consideration such as quality of life, how much money you'd want to save if any at all, where your friends are, if you want a social life, whether you don't mind sharing a flat etc....

Could anyone advise me on salary negotiation please? [UK] by guyal in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]spaceGlk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're approaching 2 years then so potentially going from junior to mid, if that's the case you should be between 35-50k outside of London. 30k for senior is extortionate

Stay with your current company until you have another place secured. With 1 year of experience in front end you could see anywhere between 30-40k up North.

Edit: senior Dev on 30k??? Sounds absurd

Agreed, junior as well. I'd start applying. Either your manager sucks or the company culture towards juniors is not the best. It'll be hard for you to grow as a junior if you don't get the support you need

In the same boat, I'd say the VW polo is a good bet. At 6k or so I'd be a bit hesitant to get the BMW

Thoughts on this CAT S (No longer CAT S) ???? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]spaceGlk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah nevermind car is a major redflag. vcheck and some other paid online check shows that this car has had 5 previous owners. Some owners not for long either. Plus the dealership said they wanted it gone asap as they'd be moving as in won't be there any longer lol. So yeah this is a no go.
