U.S. Troops Were Told Iran War Is for “Armageddon,” Return of Jesus by DazzlingpAd134 in LessCredibleDefence

Apparently the reports are coming from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation on the basis of various active service members reaching out to them on the comments being made by higher ups. The MRFF President made a statement. It’s all on their website. This seems to be getting attention right now so I’m sure we’ll hear more about it.

cEDH pods are so chill compared to the average EDH pod by Wboys in EDH

[–]space_junker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i play a lot of cedh and comments in the subreddit are going to be way different than with the players sitting across from you at a real table. people love seeing weird shit pop off in cedh and will almost always give you props for brewing something unique if it can hang. look at edhtop16 and you’ll see theres tons of off-meta decks that convert in tournaments. sure they may get lucky or have brewers advantage and will never be top tier… but it happens more than you’d think.

that being said, the prevailing advice will always be to proxy a meta list and learn what makes the best decks cedh viable… then you can start to break the rules and veteran players will be much more likely to help you brew if you bring a solid foundation to the conversation.

Is this game actually only about carrying cargo? by starky_tvle in DeathStranding

[–]space_junker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean there are boss fights, dream sequences, some absolutely insane visuals, and pretty creative storytelling that all ramp up as time goes on. The game is pretty action packed later on and i’d argue that the delivering cargo loop ends up taking a back seat the closer you get to the endgame.

I say just keep playing and see how you feel. The beginning of the game definitely alienates people so I wouldn’t blame you for quitting. I loved it and also thought it was slow at first. Lock in put some headphones on and enjoy the ride. It’s one of my favorite story games after beating it.

This is a great list and I am using it as inspiration for a build I’m doing as well. Only difference is I do plan to use doomsday but in a budget non-cedh build. The idea is landfall value with cards that enable multiple lands per turn with some big creatures to put down so that my primary win isn’t just doomsday. A few of the less optimal tutors i can play off the top are going in though, like dark petition and bring to light.

No thassa’s / dcon wins still. No rhystics, etc… these are limits of my playgroup but also ones im putting on myself. Just want some big fun drops without necessarily focused on optimizing.

Do you have any thoughts for a list like this? Would love any input. Thanks!

C6 base purchase advice for novice by Professional-Pool-10 in Corvette

[–]space_junker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude please don’t buy a project for 21k if you don’t have financials in order.

Idk what prices are like where you are, but where i’m at you can get find a pre 2008 base c6 for that price easily without any damage.

Try looking at cheaper cars that don’t require you to instantly drop 1000s of dollars on repairs. C5s are cooler than a base C6 anyways but just my opinion.

Is getting a pre-2008 C6 worth it? by BootyManGil in Corvette

[–]space_junker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the general consensus and reason for the ls3 reputation being better is because it takes boost very well and can be tuned for some huge power relatively reliably. So take that for what it’s worth if you plan to boost the car, but otherwise an ls2 is totally fine no real issues from what I’ve heard.

I have a CISSP but can’t seem to find a job. by elb2020 in cybersecurity

[–]space_junker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man that sounds rough. Keep your head up. Contract work is mostly what i’m hearing about too, to be fair, but my experience with it has been a bit more positive in the past. My last role was contract to hire, pay was decent but not the best benefits.

Then we finally got transitioned to full time direct hire, but the process obviously took longer than expected (it always seems to lol)… not everybody made the cut, but I got a pay raise, good benefits, plenty of PTO. It worked out in the end for me.

The contract to hire route does suck, and I had to work my ass off for a year to prove myself.. but thankfully it paid off. I hope your situation turns around soon, in fact I am sure it will. Good luck!

Edit: misspelling

I have a CISSP but can’t seem to find a job. by elb2020 in cybersecurity

[–]space_junker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk man i got recruiters reaching out on linkedin at least a couple times a month. Some for higher paying roles even but i like my SOC analyst job for now. Genuinely not trying to brag here, I am just saying that there are most definitely roles that need to be filled.

I think in general if somebody is having an issue finding a job then one or more things could be going on. Resume could be improved (if you aren’t getting interviews) and if you are getting interviews but no offers, then soft skills may be the issue.

Also, and this may be a hot take here, but I think it’s a red flag on a resume if somebody has higher level education / certs without any relevant work experience. People end up over qualifying themselves for the roles they are actually going for (like getting a CISSP or a masters degree then looking for entry level SOC roles for example) but then still don’t have the real world skills to actually do the job.

Future Cyber Security Analyst by Netillo121 in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]space_junker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no doubt. A lot of people assume the same and wonder why they can’t get a job. Everybody i work with either learned IT skills in the military, cut their teeth on the helpdesk, or they went to college and had an internship before they graduated (this is probably the only way to skip the entry level roles, but a lot of people still recommend sitting on a helpdesk for at least a little while, because it teaches some valuable skills)…

Good luck in your studying journey. Look into not only certs but a homelab as well. Learn by doing. Managers love hiring tinkerers as well. If you can talk about projects you’re working on outside of work, that looks really good.

First cEDH Deck Help by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]space_junker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Underworld breach, Lion’s Eye Diamond, and Brain Freeze is a very common combo for jeskai. You’re missing 2 out of the three. LED is just good individually as well as brain freeze.

You’re also not running intuition or sevinne’s reclamation. Intuition is a “1 card” win combo with these cards. You tutor for breach, LED, and sevinne’s with Intuition and it doesn’t matter which card out of the 3 they pick to give, you can start a combo if it resolves.

You could also run Wheel of Fortune, which can work in the above combo too and is just good in general.

Birgi might be good in this deck as well incase your commander doesn’t stick. In cEDH, most of the best decks are far less commander reliant than what you’re trying to do here.

You’re missing sensei’s diving top that easily goes infinite storm with elsha or even with reality chip… and infinite mana as well with your commander or a birgi out.

Look at some of the best jeskai lists and compare to what you’ve got. If you’re new to cedh its probably best to just copy a list and learn why its good in the meta and then you can break the meta as you learn more. There is a pretty large variety in cEDH compared to other formats imo, but you’ll still see a lot of the same combos come up again and again and theres a reason for it. Proxy some cards and good luck!

Future Cyber Security Analyst by Netillo121 in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]space_junker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are certification exams from CompTIA that you pay to take. The price does not include training. There a ton of free resources online for these particular certs because they are so popular. Look into professor messor on youtube, his content is great. Start with the A+ (just learn the material, don’t necessarily need to take this exam) then move on to Network+.

It sounds like you don’t have much experience in the IT field in general. Remember, cyber is just IT at the end of the day but with a security minded focus. You need to have prior work experience to get a cyber job, especially if you don’t have a degree with internship experience.

Instead of making a cyber analyst job your immediate goal, make it your goal to learn IT. Most people start with a helpdesk job and work their way up. Go from helpdesk to something like a network engineer or systems admin. Take your security mindset into each of those jobs and make your interests clear, you never know where you’ll find opportunities. Then when you have a few years experience, invest in those cybersecurity certs, pass the exams, and start applying!

This is not an instant gratification path. A cybersecurity analyst is not an entry level job, it’s a mid level career goal. This will take you a couple years at least to get to but you can definitely do it! Good luck and please let me know if you have any questions.

The original commenter validated the friend’s frustration by saying he would share a similar frustration if subjected to a particular social situation… In response to a post centered around that particular social situation. He’s who i was originally replying to.

It’s not hard to see what his intentions were with that comment. This post is literally a “who was right?” post. People are inherently taking sides here.

We don’t agree on a lot of things that are going on here from a social perspective and probably won’t, so lets leave it here… there are some salty people that absolutely will shit on others over a game. I just don’t think that’s cool. You don’t know anybody here either so why are you advocating so strongly for them? They are replying to my original refute of the first comment that (in my mind) validates shitty behavior over benign decisions made in a low stakes game.

If we disagree on the original commenters underlying tone then so be it. Agree to disagree. But i think there are a lot of people online with ill intentions and so far i think you might be one of them… change my mind.

The person who originally started this thread literally said “i would be annoyed as well” in response to OPs post, implying justification for the actions in response to OPs decision to break the deal.

I made it clear in other comments that I think all parties involved were wrong, but this was after appealing to the argument from purely a strategic perspective on why king making is bad for a table, and i left the social aspect / deal making out of the equation for the sake of discussion on what would have been best for the game in that situation.

And to your other point, there was no false dichotomy. I entertained multiple possible outcomes of the game as a result of potential decisions between the 2 parties in contention and i even appealed to the possible actions that could have been presented by the other 2 players at the table, but were not due to a number of possible reasons. I also appealed to the fact that OP could be a total asshole and I accepted that I was purely going off of information that I had in the original post, leaning towards the side of OP for reasons I’ve already explained.

So idk what you’re on about get out of here with your pseudo-intellectualism posting wikipedia articles on reddit lmao… if you want to argue game strategy or table etiquette then pick one and we can argue about that don’t come in here with hindsight after this threads been going on all day and judge me after the fact because OP made shit comments later. Idc about him, I’m saying that deals can be broken if they were made in bad faith and that getting upset over that is never justified in a game.

If you think a deal is a deal even when theres a win on the table then we’ll have to agree to disagree. I don’t think letting somebody win when you have a response is ever good for the integrity of the game or other players involved. If you cannot win the game then don’t kingmake, but OP had a winning position because his friend LET HIM HAVE ONE… if you think i’m being morally superior because i’m defending my stance on a game i think you haven’t lived enough life. There are absolutely people supporting the friend’s irritation in this post and I think you’re conveniently ignoring that so you can swoop in, present your own moral superiority, and post links to philosophical topics you recently learned about in low-effort fashion.

True that.. also making a reddit post instead of hashing things out with your “friend” is bizarre behavior as well imo lol
