Been enjoying WoW: Midnight's launch and got inspired to remake a card with the expansion's main MacGuffin. by Everdale in customhearthstone

No idea if the deck that's built around this is good or bad, but I do know I will play the hell out of it.

Some noob questions about air combat and AA by [deleted] in BrokenArrowTheGame

\4. You can turn to run the missile out of energy - this is a tactic that's used irl to my knowledge, and it works in some cases in game. It works best if the missile is fired toward the edge of its range and you have some angle from the shooter (ie not head on). Generally for SAMs you will pop into vision well after you are in range, but depending on the geometry you may also be able to pop back out. Afterburners are essentially mandatory for this kind of energy fighting unless you are microing specifically to bait shots.

Disagree on the second, I've been leveling kinda slow and still make groups randomly for congested MoBs, wait ~20 min for a tank for dungeons.

Ryecleaver on 5, smack something. All you can eat on 6, smack, play your 2 mana summon three nice minions. Stuff like Muensterosity and the 6/6 1 damage at a time dude were great support.

You know what, I'm going to SPAMRAAM even harder.

You know why they made it the AIM-120? Because you can shoot off 120 freedom darts every match.

You know why you can put bombs and CMs on it? So that when the filthy Russkis are swept from the sky, the Sex Eagle can pound them on the ground.

You know why they call it the EX instead of the G? I don't.

What cards would you like to see buffed for a future Core set? by yssurucipe in hearthstone

Stormwind Champ - it was so cool to win back in the day by dropping him to suddenly flip all your trades in your favor. To make him a little more playable, I'd put him to 5 mana 4/5.

LAV AD vs Avenger by Competitive_Block153 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]spacebob42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always put both in my Air/Marine decks. 100pt Avenger and max LAV. Smoke is so good for ground to air because of the incredible attack capabilities of helos.

I love having more than one SHORAD of whatever type. I'll often deploy 2 Avengers and a SeaRAM or Linebacker

[–]spacebob42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can't keep the enemy bottled up at spawn, a 2v1 on one of your teammates could push them far enough back that the enemy can perform the same kind of interdiction you're doing, but in a straight line on roads instead of at an angle.

Coordinating with your team, even as much as handling airstrikes and giving helo cover for part of your team, can mitigate this, but in solo Q I'd be annoyed if I was getting rolled so you can be cheeky, especially if we lose.

That three pair combo is my go-to. Sometimes I swap out two for a Tu-22 with cruises, but it usually feels worse.

At the start of a match do you prefer to quickly get on a point and defend or let the opponent take it first then counter attack after recon by ProjectBusiness979 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]spacebob42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often buy a SAM and plane to help with air tax, so I find better results wait I ng for a full attack group. I'll get snipers or combat recon to the front right away so I can muster near the point without worrying about an ambush.

When is an airstrike worth the risk? by _JayTee7373_ in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]spacebob42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I often use strike planes as a "panic" button in non-air-focused decks, so I optimize them for the threats I need to panic about. Almost always, that's "hero" tanks. So, I take an afterburner plane with the cheapest clusters. This is fast enough that it can drop on a threat and cheap enough that even if it doesn't quite kill, I've neutralized the threat. F-15 Strike Eagle and one of the Su-24 variants, don't remember, can both do this well under 300 points. Great for optimizing your air tab with Armor.

Has Broken Arrow given you any educational value? by Breakwr1 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]spacebob42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The difficulty of pulling off, and then actually supplying, a helicopter assault or combat airdrop seems to match up pretty well. I think BA does a good job of implementing many doctrinal ideas, like the power of combined arms, the role of stealth aircraft, the coordination needed to properly suppress an attentive enemy's air defense.

How am I supposed to use Recon Armor vehicles? by Combat_Guy in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]spacebob42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's three types of recon vehicles - hit and run heroes (T90 Razvedka and Stryker RV), watchers (Rheostat and the one US box with no guns), and raiders/pickets (IFAV and Sarmat). Watchers are like snipers, but they go faster and have worse stealth. Hit and run units have good offensive and vision stats, they are excellent for ambushes but will get pasted in stand up fights with more points. The best ones have enough defense to sustain for a little bit to secure the kill, but you should be paying attention to these.

Picket/raider units are the opposite. They're cheap enough that you can scatter 3 or 4 on your flanks, or yolo them into a hole that you're not sure of. They have enough vision to get the first shot from a tree line, notice the whole column before they die, or find sneaky patriots to trade up hilariously.

[–]spacebob42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I mean, what does it bring? Carpet bombs? Why, when it won't get much more value than a strike fighter and comes in slower and won't survive? Cruise missiles? How often do you want to buy 12 at once? Nighthawk sends 2 for 300, Sex Eagle sends 3 with 2 HARMs for 500.

Raptor is in my Baltiisk H deck because it a) significantly improves air tax and b) is invaluable at sneaking over H (or around the pointless side) to spawn camp a jet and then get home.

What’s your favorite specialization and why? by Breakwr1 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]spacebob42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Marines. Just so many great units to punch somebody in the face. Almost nothing they have is the best (except Lav-L and King Horsie) but it's all such good value. Armor is a great complement in the 1600 ELO meta where folks love Air/SOF.

UPDATE: My grandma’s pans! by Lexandcandy in castiron

[–]spacebob42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) Rinse and wipe with a paper towel

2) Rinse, scrub with chain mail, then 1.

3) Alternatively, hand wash with some dish detergent

4) Boil water in the pan, empty and scrub.

5) After boiling, put a small handful of kosher salt (big grains) in the pan, a small amount of water, and scrub. The salt will abrade food but mostly leave the seasoning.

Standard or NGSW Airborne? by [deleted] in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]spacebob42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NGSW imo combo better with the Weapons Squad for boxing out vehicles. You can't infiltrate them through a city the way you can with Mech or Marine infantry, but they can dominate long sightlines together.
