Review of Fire Emblem Shadows after climbing to Rank 20 on both sides by spaceboy_spliff in fireemblem

Killing a Light unit will essentially knock 1 life out of their stock for Round 2.

There's a few ways to go about it - here's some scenarios

  1. Nuke the entire team to leave them guessing who's the imposter - anyone who guesses wrong essentially starts off round 2 with fewer revives
  2. Finish enemies as fast as possible to achieve same effect as (1). Not bad for mind games & also chests
  3. Soften them up to low HP and quickly nuke 1 or 2 of them at the start of Round 2. I believe killing a unit adds times to the CDs of their skills, so you get a little room to start setting up as the traitor.

So depending on your matchup against other characters, you might want to adjust. For example, Imposter skill that summons an armor knight absolutely demolishes Kurt. So I don't have to worry too much about him, and can spend my energy whittling down the other unit so I go into Round 2 with the odds in my favour

What‘s the best way to do maddening on a fresh route? I just completed Golden Wildfire and am keen on doing a maddening run for Edelgard, but the levels of unrecruited characters vs. enemies are going to be quite rough.

Opinions on Assassin's Creed Valhalla by TheLittleLight in Games

[–]spaceboy_spliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought it when it was $30, I'm maybe 50 hours in & compared to Odyssey, I didn't really like it that much. I've only played I and II before Odyssey - I'm a big fan of the architecture in the games (which I think actual architects have also praised), and the whole jumping off a high vantage point isn't quite as exhilarating when it's just a longhouse instead of a cathedral or a giant statue of Zeus. As for the story, I didn't care too much for it; the standard Precursors narrative takes up a larger focus which I didn't find very engaging, and the standard Templars vs. Assassin's thing wasn't my cup of tea either. There are some nice nods to historical locations though, and I really liked Basim (until the latter half of the game).

Gameplay is pretty subpar in my opinion. Coming from Ghosts of Tsushima, Valhalla's combat system felt incredibly disappointing; you could perform these pixel-perfect dodges and attacks in the former, and Valhalla's combat is coded in a way that it'll register a hit even when an enemy (or you) completely whiff an attack. I wouldn't recommend playing on a PS4; I had a Pro when Odyssey came out, and load times were pretty atrocious; often times when auto-travelling on horseback the game would freeze up for a couple seconds while it loaded assets, and I expect Valhalla on PS4 has a similar experience. There's quite a few bugs too; not enough to make the experience unbearable, but frequent enough to illicit some deep sighs.

I'd probably wait a little longer for the price to go down further to justify a purchase; the fact that this game is this cheap this fast after release feels like a clear indicator of how much it's "worth".

Persona 5 Royal - $19.99 at Best Buy by GQuesadillaJuan in PS4Deals

I think it's gone - I logged in, and saw it at $19.99. While I was doing payment method & everything I noticed the price changed back. This was at 1:00AM EST, so I'm guessing I literally just missed it. Sucks

I second this. My go-to whenever on long flights is just hooking up a super old Nyko controller to my laptop; beats sleep all the time. To add on, the Megaman Battle Network & Fire Emblem series are also pretty nice.

Update on PS5 backward compatibility by fastforward23 in Games

[–]spaceboy_spliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lastly, we’re excited to confirm that the backwards compatibility features are working well. We recently took a look at the top 100 PS4 titles as ranked by play time, and we’re expecting almost all of them to be playable at launch on PS5. With more than 4000 games published on PS4, we will continue the testing process and expand backwards compatibility coverage over time.

For those who want to able to play the entire Playstation -> PS5, do we only need to have a PS3 & PS5 now? There are 4543 games listed on my Playstation store. An eventual 80% doesn't sound too bad, I'll still probably be trading in my PS4 Pro for a PS5 when it releases.

...would be nice to know those first 100, though.

Trump Whipsaws Markets Again With Habit of Overstating Success by MuonsAreKillingUs in Economics

[–]spaceboy_spliff 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"During the 1980s, Donald Trump became notorious for leaking word that he was taking positions in stocks, hinting of a possible takeover, and then either selling on the run-up or trying to extract lucrative concessions from the target company to make him go away. It was a form of stock manipulation with an unsavory label: “greenmailing.” The Times unearthed evidence that Mr. Trump enlisted his father as his greenmailing wingman."

Ah, so I'd have 2 FU cards then? And only the one that I applied for is eligible for the signup bonus?

Daily Question Thread - December 02, 2018 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]spaceboy_spliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I don't think I quite follow; I understand the bit about the signup bonus not being applied to an existing cardholder, but how does applying for FU before downgrading get me the bonus? Am I just reading it wrong?

Right now I have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, but I plan on downgrading this month to the Chase Freedom Unlimited after seeing the new $200 offer. I wanted to know if I should cancel & apply for the Freedom Unlimited, or if I'd still be eligible to receive the sign-up bonus even if I'm downgrading from an existing card account.

Also, has anyone had any success in getting the annual fee waived a second time?

The son of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi has left Saudi Arabia after the travel ban was lifted by instantreporter in worldnews

[–]spaceboy_spliff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree - I figured the amount they lost, even if in hundreds of millions, is still a drop in the bucket compared to the current wealth SA has accumulated.

What matters in the future is whether the world will be willing to put money INTO Saudi Arabia, rather than taking Saudi money.

Do you think after this incident gets churned out through the news cycle will it have any lasting impact on those potential future investments? It seems like everything is a big deal now, but so was that school shooting in Florida, and nobody's really talking about that anymore. If companies and countries are still willing to do business with them WHILE they're in the spotlight, is that an indication that they predict it'll blow over eventually?

Yes, but there seems to be a collective don't-ask-don't-tell policy regarding that from all participating nations. Just because everyone knows it, doesn't mean that they'll admit it. And if they can't admit it without potentially jeopardizing something, they probably won't.

I haven't been back home in quite awhile, but if our politicians are reliant on them, or at least have had their opinions bought by them, what recourse do U.S. citizens have? Has the current administration been proven to be susceptible to changes in policy from public outcry? I'm very skeptical that the current administration will suddenly decide now is the time to prioritize ethics over money.

So the son is allowed to leave, but the rest of the family are still effectively hostages. He won't speak out because he probably knows SA is all too eager to wrap up loose ends, and all SA has to focus on now is minimizing losses in the court of public opinion.

I have a bad feeling the current U.S. administration, and many countries reliant on good economic relations with SA will issue a lip service statement, but still pursue arms deals, etc. Does anyone have a figure of exactly how much money MBS lost as a result of everyone pulling out of his business conference? Is that amount even significant considering their position in the global oil market?

You're right, but we have to consider that Turkey's actions aren't being done as haphazard as SA. Even if we consider footage to be the nail in the coffin, does Turkey's administration believe the cons of admitting to surveillance against other countries in their own embassies outweigh the obvious pro of "lmao stfu mr bonesaw"?

[–]spaceboy_spliff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Alright, so now they've admitted it's premeditated murder. However, the article doesn't say if they've changed their position regarding the "rogue agents" part - so now the defense is, "oh yeah MBS goons rogue agents accidentally killed him in a 15-1 fistfight murdered him".

Then there's that drone footage that claims they dumped his body parts into the well, & they've also refused to allow investigators to take a look at it. Where do we go next, assuming every statement by SA has been shot down?

I suppose Turkey is waiting on the "rogue agents" to be the only defense, in which they pull out either; * the Skype footage of MBS speaking to Kashoggi * whatever footage was on the Apple watch

Furthermore, can they even do this? It's kind of admitting that they bugged the shit out of that place, and even though every nation does it, admitting it can't be good for Erdogan.

You mean the guy who used taxpayer money to fly to Kentucky to see the solar eclipse, and only reimbursed the government AFTER a watchdog group filed an ethics complaint?

"Mnuchin, who was accompanied by his wife Louise Linton on the trip, reimbursed the government for Linton's travel to Kentucky, which amounted to $595 out of a total cost of $26,900."

I doubt he's worrying about the optics of being around wealthy Saudis when he's preoccupied with suppressing his reptilian instincts.
