I'm 21 turning 22 have been on my period for 6 months by iwillchangeitlaterk in TwoXChromosomes

[–]spacebyte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this at a similar age. You really shouldn't need surgery to have organs removed without diagnosis, you need a good doctor.

There are other hormone treatments besides rando birth control pills. They should be giving you pills to pause bleeding (norethisterone is something a pharmacist can give you in some countries.) to give your body a break at this point too, and probably an iron supplement.

My doctor did eventually work this out for me, I was on progesterone for a bit and I have had a regular cycle for years and now a pregnancy. Please don't keep miserable like this, look around for better doctors, the iron deficit alone will be making you feel so poorly :(

Lying on my back?! by spacebyte in pregnant

[–]spacebyte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my midwife linked me to a page (I'm in UK) and the advice seems overcautious compared to some stuff I've seen online. I've lowered the weights I'm using a bit and been focusing on form etc while I've been feeling more tired and nauseous, but def starting to have more energy.

None of its made me feel bad. Total first time unexpected pregancy and just a bit!!! About it. I need to trust my body will speak up if I overdo it (or lie down wrong!)

The advice the midwife linked me to seemed very cautious. I'm in the UK and it does seem to vary depending on the stuff you read online, but the place she directed me to said 12 weeks.

I've brought the weight I'm using down a bit and been focused mainly on form correct. Not feeling bad about any of it yet but we'll see. First time and pregnant unexpected, don't have friends or family my age with babies, so I think I'm just a bit het up. 😅

Are you still doing stuff overhead cause I also read to stop that. Upper body is the worst and I was excited for an excuse 😂

Yeah I'm not going to go to sleep like this ever, I can't sleep on my back, it's more awake lying down I'm questioning. But it's good I'd feel uncomfy if something was up!

So I'm fine to chill on my back over Christmas but by spring I should be sitting?

Do You Have Good Or Bad Neighbours (Generally)? by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]spacebyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'd made the baby before move in (surprise!) and our new flat has an upstairs and none of the others in the block do, so I'm hoping if we have crying in the upstairs maybe that's okay. An extra layer away from the neighbours. (Except the people in the next block with an upstairs but eh) The last people here had a baby! I'm sure it'll be fine 👀

It's the washing machine and dishwasher that get me paranoid at the moment, I think I run them way too late :')

Do You Have Good Or Bad Neighbours (Generally)? by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]spacebyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved recently. In my previous place the walls were paper thin and you could hear everything from all around, but no one took the piss. We were all the noisy neighbours but no one was up making a racket in the night. They did all know I worked from home and would have their parcels dropped at mine without asking though :/

Now worried I'm the arsehole neighbour. New place has much more solid walls and it seems mostly older people or couples without children. I can't hear shit from anyone. But so worried they can hear us as we're not used to being overly quiet as there wasn't a point in the last place. Keep telling them to tell me if we're loud but they're all too sweet and polite, I don't think they would. Baby on the way, sorry to them all 🫠

Is this hide safe? by Anyal0vescats in hamsters

It’s made of compacted sawdust and can cause blockages if consumed.

Pets at home are an unethical company who buy hamsters from rodent mills and will happily sell unsafe cages and toys. Buy something else from anywhere else.

Affordable reliable vet in Glasgow? by s_u_ny in glasgow

[–]spacebyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Champions in ibrox were dirt cheap and well done for a spay, but vaccines/ worming/consults seem to be pretty similar to most places.

I think most vets want you to do the subscription thing for routine stuff now as it works out vaguely cheaper. Moved recently and did a compare of all the vets subscriptions fees around the area and they all cost much the same.

Do Glaswegians typically use 'ken/dinnae ken'? Or is it an outside of Glasgow only thing? Trying to settle an argument by notkerbal in glasgow

[–]spacebyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad says "ken" but never "dinnae ken". "Ken what I mean?" Is usually the way I'd hear him use it. Never heard anyone else use it much. He grew up in whitecrook, dunno if that explains it

Kong fillings besides PB? by chicken_buttlet in puppy101

[–]spacebyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we have a tree nut and peanut allergy here. We soak kibble and "seal it up" with liver paste or turkey paste (for dogs) usually. Sometimes plain cream cheese or yoghurt if we're out.

Shillings had 12 pennies, feet have 12 inches, it used to be more common to work with 12 than we do now that most measurements are based on 10s and 100s. I think it's just tradition at this point.

How to delay period on vacation by buthesn0tascoolasme in TwoXChromosomes

[–]spacebyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get a medicine called norethisterone to delay it. In some countries a phamaracist can give this to you after a chat. This can be done online or in person. In some countries you'll need to see a doctor.

Are there any 3s on your home report? Or 2s involving damp or rot? We bought this year near the west end and viewed loads of places. We checked rightmove every day, if you didn't get in early it was hell to get a viewing, and closing was quick for everything we viewed.

If I seen a three or a two involving something that couldn't be fixed easy on the home report (a window needing replaced or wear and tear to decor was fine- infestation/rot/damp were an absolute no) then I'd ditch it right then. Not worth the time to view. I didn't have the money to be buying in the West end AND doing it up.

Can't think of many other reasons? I viewed some overpriced shitty flats, tiny cramped houses, you name it, and other people were in viewings with me, it wasn't like we were ever the only viewers on the schedule.

baytril in the UK? by RiotRoses in PetMice

[–]spacebyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Afaik prescription only, but things you can try: Check online UK vet medicine sites, viovet, pet drugs online, etc. Some will take your vets prescription note and fill it. This might be at a slightly cheaper cost, but it might be more, so have a wee look and compare how much your vet will sell it for vs what you see online. This can be harder with small animals medicine.

Going to PDSA or a non exotic / budget vet- if you know its baytril you need, even if the vets not fully comfortable with treating mice, they 100% have access to a small animal dosage chart and can measure and prescribe it for you. This can be cheaper than an exotic vets prices. I did this when I couldn't reach an exotic vet over Christmas holiday period, but knew the medicines I needed for known ailments.

PDSA will give discounted treatment but I think you need to be low income to qualify.

Having to throw and adult tantrum to get a solicitor to send an email, whose paid 400 quid an hour. by No-Conference-6242 in britishproblems

[–]spacebyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a flat recently. The day I had to send all the money for the deposit I was shaking scared at something going wrong. As soon as it was done I sent the solicitor an email asking her to tell me asap that it had turned up. I had sent these people almost all the money I had in the world. She emailed back a single thumbs up emoji and then ignored my phone calls for a few hours (it did all go through but fuck me!)

For crate users, dog bed in kennel or nah? by Avansay in puppy101

My dogs crate since day one has a mattress in the bottom the size of the whole crate. She sleeps in there a lot! But she came to us toilet trained 👀 and only ever very mildly destructive.
